Hey Ulsterrtw, Have to agree with DCstrom. Cross at Tecate then highway 3 to Ensenada through wine country. TJ can be nuts with long lines. And watch the weather, it may be pretty cold the next few days.

Muy bien gracias. In Oaxaca after riding Mex 175 from C. Aleman to Oaxaca. Certainly one of the best rides ever. (Aren't they all) Todo buy bien. Feliz Año!

Big blow out here at our little hotel. I cooked a turkey and a ham in the adobe oven. A little tricky since we use it for pizza and getting the temperature down for turkey was a trick. Came out great though. We shot off a lot of fireworks and did not incur the wrath of our neighbor the police comandante. He was working the big New Years dance down the street and was not around. So Felize Año a todos!

if you can find Negra Modelo on tap than even better. I know Don Chow's the sushi place a block from the beach has some good beer on top.

Another great spot to find beer from Uruguay and other great beer producing countries is the Irish bar (if the guy is still there this year) which is found along the river, just up from the beach, on the south side, in what looks to be storage sheds. That guy stocks a ton of unique beers. you would not even know there is a bar there during the day when the door is down because it looks like a row of storage shed doors.

On another note: It is freakin cold here in SMA. The sun has just broken through the overcast as I enjoy the best breakfast so far on this trip at La Cocina on the corner of Hernandez Macias and Quadrante... a great place where on this cold day people are eating in the kitchen!

time to head down to the coast where the temps are ideal this time of year.
the central bajio & highlands are for other warmer times of the year.

then again a trip to la gruta hot spring on the left side of road to delores hidalgo will warm you right up. i've visited many a hot spring in mex. and this was by far the finest!
