Ducati have announced 15,000 mile valve inspection interval - that doubles the mileage from the previous 7,500. Should help with the maintenance cost, and it's 3,000 more miles than the Tiger at 12,000. Ducati are starting to catch on...

Mine's on order - April delivery.

Take a look at the back tire. It's a 190 so probably about a five inch wide rear wheel. Whatever anyone believes, the bike is not designed to be a dual purpose ride. It'll do fine on a fire road and the most important part is it will handle crappy pavement.

    Congrats!

I'm still thinking about it. I have the money. I have buy-in from spousal unit. Only hitch in my book is the total price. That's a lot of clams.

My thought would be to purchase the S model in sport trim, add then add the center stand and bag system as accessories. According to Ducati, that would save a good amount of money over buying a touring model and adding all the expensive carbon fiber.

So, what. $20K for the bike, $3K for bags/stand? Another $2K in sales tax. Pretty soon we are talking real money.

    Argh.

I thought the panniers were $1500, the center stand can't be $1500?

From what I've been reading, it's a wash either way, if you go with the Sport S and add the panniers, center stand and heated grips, it comes to the same as buying the Touring S model and adding the carbon bits. :dunno

Can't wait to see on in person and trying it.

GB, I agree with you. I think each person needs to taylor their options according to their needs and the convenience for them.

I was told around April. My feeling is late April/ early May. If it comes in May I wont mind. Just use the MM instead.

Full luggage system is panniers plus a tail trunk, which, supposedly, is quite large.

Thanks Paul.. I like Ash, with his no nonesense reviews... Very impressive indeed..

Are the brakes on this bike linked in any way, or is it fully independent? :ear

Not sure. I think they are independent ABS. The base model comes without.

You seem to post also to Ash's site. Would you kindly ask him did he drive also the base model?

S model has those 4 modes but what about the base model, what default settings you have on that in terms of suspension, throttle action etc? Is it sport, touring or something between these two (when comparing to the S model)?

Don't think anyone has rode the base model. From what i have heard, at least over here in the UK, 80% of production is geared toward the sport model, with the rest dedicated to the Touring model.

Mr Ash reckons MCN (UK) got a chance to ride one. So far no word if it's better / worse than it's premium priced brethren.

    I want one!

A true 190 requires a 6" rim according to most tire MFG's - in years past ducati has gotten cute and fitted a 190 to a 5.5" rim (I think as a marketing thing). I don't think you'll ever find a 190 on a 5" rim as standard or approved by a tire mfg (though 190's seem to be shrinking - I think the number is a selling point, but tire mfg's realized that its really too wide for most purposes - solution, stamp 190 on something that's more like 185). In any event, its most likely a 6" rim and 5.5" at the smallest assuming the 190 thing is correct.

It really is rather nice :tb

I just wonder if I can see myself loading it up like the GSA for 3 to 4000 mile trips... And throwing it down the odd trail, 2up...
