Yes Bob, but maybe not snobbery so much as I find Canadian whiskey too sweet and then people mix it with high fructose corn syrup sweetened soda and it becomes a sure fire formula for feeling.... well... like shit. For me there is nothing like a good sipping whiskey shared over several hours with good companions and good stories. Yes P.J. but only if I don't have to go anywhere but a beach chair the next day. I love the taste of a finely made tequila, especially with fresh citrus juices but oh boy the hangover. One tequila, two tequila, three tequila... floor.
Bob I went to the link and it scored a direct hit on my wine snobbery. The guy's first mistake was to go to Sterling at all. He got it right at Grgich but Mike Grgich stands on his own as one of the finer winemakers in the Napa Valley and has for more than thirty years. Sterling = Puch Grgich=Vincent Black Lightning
Canadian Club is like mother's milk, you enjoy while you are young. Bob and I drink Crown Royal, rocks, or neat. Sometimes with fresh moose milk but Bob's moose milking abilities are not what they once were. If you say anything bad about Crown Royal you too will have a purple bag. LOL!
While I still enjoy a Kentucky bourbon on the rocks, I have acquired a taste for bacanora, Sonora's agave liquor. Before you all start screaming rotgut, yes there is a lot of really bad home brew out there but there is some craft made, triple distilled stuff as well. Triple distilled, 100% agave, about 100 proof and clear as mountain air. Perfect for sipping in the evening. The good stuff is every bit as good as the bad stuff is horrible. You gotta know the guy and you you have to go to the still at least once to participate in the craft involved. Bacanora is now being imported legally into the states and has won some tequila competitions.
Yes, but Sterling does have some incredible views from their building. Being up on that hill have some advantages.
When I got to Guada. there was a tree growing around the sign I missed & cost me a hot , crappy several hours! My plan was to "turn right" & head for the coast from there , which I did. So, I guess I missed that you were on a " directed tour"?
I ride a 2003 & supposedly that model ran to 2005 maybe a few called 2006 then the R1200R kicked in-I'm not being anal at all-just never heard one called a 2007? FWIW,I bought mine used in DFW on a fly/ride w 3k,-had the same Alamo tag holder on it, now getting ready for MX bike trip #4 on that bike.
No es verdad! There are horrible bacanoras that I characterize as "liquid chainsaw" usable only as an octane booster for Harley's. A rider from eastern Europe said it was they call 'coffin polish" back home. The good stuff is made with 100% agave americanus silvestre. The state of Sonora has registered the name Bacanora and like Jalisco, with the blue agave and has registered Tequila. Bacanora, by law, must be made in only certain municipios in Sonora. If it is made with palm, a bunch of sugar or other types of agave, it ain't bacanora. We had a big freeze 2 years ago and the amount of harvestable agave is way down so there is a lot of rot-gut hootch out there. But If you know the rancher who has the agave and if you know the mescalero who is cooking it, you will get a superior product. It is also good to be there when it is being made just to enjoy the process. We are seeing some good agave lately and I expect there will be some quality product coming in late January. I have some 3 year triple distilled left but not much, I'll save you a taste. I also have some coffin polish if you need premium in your ride. If we need to, we can buy the commercial stuff. It is good but it is too tame for my taste. Joke. A salesman is traveling from Hermosillo to Cananea and stops in Huepec for lunch. A gnarly mescalero sits next to him and pulls out a bottle and says "try my Bbacanora" The sales guys says no thanks, he has to drive through the mountains. The mescalero pulls a knife and says "drink!" The salesman takes a big swig and choking and coughing with his eyes running, affirms that it is great. The gnarly guy hands him the knife and says "OK, now hold the knife on me and force me to drink some."
Speaking of snobbery, I only drink free-range moose milk. The factory farmed stuff is not nearly as smooth. Or nutritious!
On a similar snobbery subject we took my MIL(88) some organic honey(comes from bees that avoid pesticides) which we got free from a future DIL that sells some kinda natural cosmetic line and her company handles the honey too. MIL, says, "I don't want that organic stuff, you can just keep it"! Of course the only diff is it hasn't been heated/filtered. Spreads like butter-good stuff. We cant decide if she qualifies as a snob or what? Worth a good laugh though & now I get to eat it whether I'm a snob or not, which I'm not!!! When I was a kid,The railroad yard bums all drank Romeo & Juliet with the "coffee money" they tried to bum off us when we walked past to check our limb lines & trotlines . Now that's a real booze snob
Is there any thing like Mexican Whiskey ? I end up drinking Brandy when I am down south.. Tequila gives me a hang over every time... Mike
Coming back from Acuna today was kind of fogy didn't encounter wet roads until I hit Bandera on HWY173 the wide corners on it and on HWy90 plus the double compound of the michelin pilots 4 tires contributed to pleasent leaning of the 1150 regardless of drizzling I did ran into the that Jap though but she just waved at me
Try the white (clear) Tequila. I think there are Mexican whiskeys but I'm dubious. Plenty of US brands available
+1 Heard that on the first day of Pena Nieto as presidente de Mexico they incresed the toll roads a little bit anybody here aware of whats the situation

Try cane liquor "aguardiente" and if you cant take two fingers of it straight either go for the double distilled and pay a little more or be a pussy and reach for the Sprite bottle.
Damn ! he named Enrique Martinez Y Martinez his secretary of agriculture former governor of Coahuila who kindly bought all the surroundings of La Amistad dam on Mexico's side while in office bet his planing on grow radish there now
