Takes a pretty good report to get me to spend a couple of evenings wading through 59 pages:deal Nice job...I really enjoyed it. If you ever head North out of Memphis...up into the LBL & Western KY...give me a shout.

    Ride safe..........John

Not sure what's up with either of those events now....heard conflicting reports on Little Sturgis. Some said it was cancelled, others said just greatly reduced in scale. Both...especially Hog Rock, have been pretty wild in the past.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

went to little sturgis a few times (clothing optinial) a freind went this year weather was perfect but rally is really down sized from what it was (he said)

i've heard hog rock was wilder (&thats doing something) but i just couldn't get it together this year, & that's a shame being this close, i've rode the ferry and been to cave in a rock :thumb

Well...I live less than an hour from either location & have never been to either. I have been told that the city of Sturgis, KY got involved due to violence...in particular against women. And yes, Hawg Rock had the rep of being wilder...at least as far as nekkidness was concerned. I am OK with that kind of wildness:evil

I enjoy a good rally & certainly have nothing against :freaky...but having run a few bars in my time, I am not much on large crowds of drunks. A couple of weeks ago at Barber is about my style.

little strugis was definenty wild (can u say neckid water slide etc..)the few times i was there

didn't see or hear of any viloence to women

i'd heard there was a big court case between sturgis sd & little sturgis :dunno

had some friends that went this yr, said it was smaller but still fun

& for once the weather was good as in not to hot

went by friday to help him move. We got done quicker than i thought. Drywaller from work had mentioned he had a tent set up at arlington bbq this week end. Not sure what that was all about but being 2 miles away i better check it out.

Arlington bbq, wasn't a shop but a bbq all weekend contest.

with live music and a live football game

you enter the musuem and they start from back in the indian days

they have alot of models of rafts from back when folks build rafts & floated thier goods down the river to new orleans. Sold thier goods & then sold the raft for timber & started the long walk home.

There was displays of gamblers, river workers, priates & this guy

plaque was missing but i knew who he was

no you ff 's thats not colonel sanders i'm pretty sure thats samuel clemmens aka mark twain

then there was the paddle boat as you walked tru looking at exhibits, you realized you were on a steamboat of yester year

The paddle boats were replaced by the railroads for people transportation, so they move to barges to move material up and down the river.

You walk onto the bridge ( i thinks thats what they call it)

the screen is looks like your actually going up the river

as you leave there, they tell ya about the civil war on the mississippi & ya walk into an ironclad battle ship

as you wak out you come out on the deck of another ship firing on the ironclad you just left

there was more, fish, floods etc....

i went to see the river copy

from here my feet are in west memphis on the arkansaw side you can see I40 bridge, I55 bridge, the rail road bridge (if i remember right this was the first bridge over the lower mississippi in the early 1900s) the gray part is memphis with streets shown. I was amazed at the accuracy of the whole thing. You can even see thrash in the river :lol3.

The water level copied the actual drought conditions of the river that day.

Also i kept looking at the scarecrow in the back ground thinking i knew him.

As i said to my self.

Self you think you know a scarecrow it hit me.

    That's Acmed, the dead teroist.

    "SILENCE , I KILL YOU"

    :rofl

here's beale street landing under construction

this a picture from may/june? of last year from the other side. Look on the right you can see the circler thingy almost under water

i was planning on spending an hour or so there & then onto the rock & roll museum. Instead i blew most of the afternoon there. When they locked the doors i went to the confederate park.

Where so many 1000 people watched the union defeat the confedrates in a short afternoon, leaving the union in charge of memphis for the rest of the war.

    The veiw from the park
