You have to put it into neutral for the FI light to flash your code for you, then compare with the manual for code. Remember to count both long, and short flashes, ie; 4 long, 3 short = (x) code.
Mine is flashing one long & three short. Intake air temperature sensor - input signal too low Intake air temperature sensor - input signal too high
Wiring to the sensor is either broken or the sensors gone bad due to the wiring pulling on the sensor. This happens a lot on 690's.
I did that, and no codes. I have picked up codes on TuneECU before that were not displayed on the bike. Will report back tonight..
You can thank California for this. I suspect it takes a lot of funky stuff to make some of these bikes compliant with emmissions. So they run like crap with no power and lots of issues but they pass the emmissions test. Bravo :huh
I think we were all happier with the 49 state models...when the factories started building 50 state legal stuff, we all got cursed with the California drizzling shits...
2012 here too-- stock exhaust, map 1 or 2 and never stalls. sometimes a lean misfire but not blowing the throttle body off... do have a warm (hot) start issue. If you shut her down completely with the key and letting everything reset she fires right up. i've had warm start issues trying to restart after a stall in the rocks and not turning the key off. just my 2c. probably doesn't help anyone.
It seems the 2012 are finicky also. Mine has Akra header and exhaust + Akra map. It has never stalled. However, on occasion, it has on start up run for about 10 seconds then quit. Upon restart, it runs fine. Maybe a cold start thing or something. No backfires. When I took the silencer out of the Akra it would crank, fire, but would not run at all. Put it back in, runs fine. Just thought I'd throw in my statistics here. Interesting situations with this machine.
Thanks Albie. My sensor has come off the bottom of my airbox once already. I don't know if the dealer maybe left it off. One of the two screws were stripped out. Silly that it just screws into plastic. Cheap spindly wiring on this bike too, IMO. I should have time to go through my bike, waiting for a radiator. A custom radiator may be in order.
Great mod. Love how small it is and how it can be positioned in your peripheral. Not too big which is not as professional as this one.
I've been using this one for a few years with good success: http://signaldynamics.com/index.php...n=com_virtuemart&Itemid=77&vmcchk=1&Itemid=77 Its nice because it is light, sleek, and can be mounted just about anywhere with just a small single hole.
I had one of those. I put it on after my battery failed. It always showed me having issues, too high or too low. Didn't trust it..... Then I replaced my R/R. I was cleaning out the parts bin and started thinking about reinstalling it. Thought I would test it out first and it didn't work correctly. I think that my faulty R/R fried it causing it to read incorrectly. I'll be getting another..... I like the concept and cost of the diy unit above but mounting would be an issue. With the signal dynamics unit you can put the brains under the seat and the light in your dash. Sent from my SAMSUNG Galaxy Skyrocket using Tapatalk 2
Hmm. My experience has only been good. I've had these is two different bikes. One has been in since 2008 and works perfectly. Before I start it up in the morning it will be amber and stay there for a few seconds after a start; then it turns green. Installed mine after a bad R/R killed a battery and nearly ruined a vacation trip. Every now and again a glance tells me everything is working correctly.
Bingo on the hose inside the tank. Sorted now and so far so good. Bike is running as it should. Thanks to all for the suggestions and this thread for the ideas and documentation.
You all saw that Noah.(RoninMoto) got his 690 stolen in Ireland? Not even in the country for a day...
Awesome to hear you got it fixed. The fuel hose is a tough one.... When mine did it, the hose was only partially off. So, upon start up the pump would pressurize line/injector and the bike would start just fine. Then die soon after. Never with the same duration though. I could even take the injector out and turn it over. Fuel would spray out perfectly....
