How could I have missed that?
I first saw one of those in the wild sometime around 1975 or so, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge northbound. I was on the Southbound side, and never had a chance to swing around and chase him down (plus, I didn't want to have to pay another dollar toll when I resumed my journey through San Fransisco home to Half Moon Bay).

As an Enfield enthusiast, what I love about the new production ones is the parts interchangability with our old ones. The rear fender stays, swingarm, and engine aren't compatible with the post-1955 UK built models, but the forks, wheels, fuel tanks, etc. will go right on.
I'm using a number of new-made parts for my two restorations.

according to the engine and frame numbers it is a '47 xb33(500cc) motor in a 1950 frame

My cousin Don with his Brand new BSA Golden Flash, circa 1953 or so, Lynnwood, California.
He rode the bike in standard trim for awhile, then modified it for desert racing. He ran the bike at least once in the Catalina Grand Prix.

Bletz, if you're out there, PM me! There are some Enfield enthusiasts who would really like to talk to you! I was in White Salmon last summer, and couldn't find you listed in the local phone book!

And here's another picture that Mr. Bledsoe emailed to me a few years ago, taken while he was at Bonneville, helping Cooper Motors support Jimmy Enz, who campaigned Enfields in speed events. This picture dates from 1962. That's Bob's and Jimmy's wives posed in front of the Enfield.
Cooper Motors was also very helpful to an unknown New Zealander who was at Bonneville for the first time that year. You can see his odd looking old Indian behind the Enfield!
