The organizer says: 160km of mixed terrain. I left my big Acerbis tank at home and sent the bike with a Clarke tank good for about 180km if I am lucky. In March I'll find out whether I made a mistake! fun fun Charlie
Charlie you should be fine with 180km range, but dont forget what I told you, never pass an open gas station, stop and top off because the fuel stations on the roadbook may be closed or have run out of gas. Just my .02
Like Åmme told before RRS Rally Raid Sweden will come this year with more crazy people who want to feel the passion for the dunes. Also Carl Hagenblad will try his luck this time but his buddie Sawano will stay at home with his family and his new kid. Two guys who rode Tuareg last year Hasse Jiredal and Mattias Talonen has new bikes Husaberg 570 almost identical to this year Swedish Dakar Rider Tomas Berglund bike. I will take a break but my dream of standing by the start line second time will live. Here is some of picture and a link to my pictures from 2012 Tuareg! :) Pics http://tlphoto.zenfolio.com/f901932347

I Marocco you needed absolutly minimum 14 liter fuel tank for KTM 530 or Husaberg 570 I used stock front tank and subframe tank and a 5 liter Meca side tank on my 570, some other 570 only have stock and subframe tank and they there short of fuel on one stage. KTM 530 with 14 liter there on the limit some made it some run out of fuel on the same stage.
I used my standard 690 tank (11.6L) and only on day 3 I was 500m short out of fuel. In the dunes the bike consumed more than 1L every 10km. Normally 17-18km/L. Do not take the last possible fuel station but plan one in advance, some are out of fuel or non-existing.
Flight booked, Tunis-Douz shuttle booked. The last rally parts are trickling in now, so I will hopefully have a weekend or two to test everything before having to ship the bike off... :eek1 Does anybody happen to have a gear and/or spares packing list that they could share with me? Since this is my first time doing a rally - or a race for that matter - I am bound to forget some important stuff otherwise. Thanks! Lukas
