I'm glad you got it. Sorry about the delay; family stuff meant I had to leave town for a bit, and then I was waaaaay behind on printing. Everything has shipped now, so everyone should get theirs soon.

That's a CAP Repeater - it's main use is to show a compass bearing. Sometimes, especially on the dunes you have no tracks or landmarks, so they give you a bearing to follow instead.

Top left is the ICO which measures distance to match to the instructions on the roadbook. Riders often have two of these fitted as the sensors on the wheel break real easy. You can set one to measure distance and the other for speed - especially useful through the speed controlled zones e.g. villages.

I got fined on the 07 Dakar for speeding!! :eek1

Top right above roadbook shows speed. And not CAP on the vid.

Yes - I was going to say, that device in the video is actually the 'SpeedoCap' unit by ERTF (I have one on my bike) - which is basically the new/expanded version...

It hooks into the UNIK GPS unit (supplied by the organisation) and you can select which info you want it to display from Cap heading, Speed over ground, plus a Trip meter (based on the info in the GPS). The really nice thing is, you can actually select a combination of two readouts at the same time if you wish - so speed and heading, or trip and speed etc.

Although the trip section of the display is not adjustable like an ICO/IMO unit, it does reset itself to the correct distance every time you pass a waypoint - so makes a good back-up ICO, just as long as you don't get too lost of course!

I typically use it in Cap and Speed combined mode - and it is handy for any speed controlled zones as DavidD says, particularly as the Speedo section has a visual warning if you are about to go over a speed limit that has been set in the GPS...

... and yet ... I watched every minute of it and loved it:clap! The only reason I didn't mind it finishing when it did was because my dinner got served. Can you tell us from which year and day/stage it was from? (I'm assuming it was a Dakar and it seemed like Argentina so maybe a couple of years ago and an early stage, day 2 or 3 -ish?)
    Cheers
