Benchmade 705S ... had it for years. Easy one-handed open/close Inner third is serrated, which is nice http://www.benchmade.com/products/705 A+++++++++ Would buy again.
Benchmade McHenry and Williams. 154cm 2.75"ish blade. Have used and abused it. Doubles as a bottle opener, hence the bare aluminum at the end. Great knife. Like the axis lock. makes it easy to flip open one handed. Fourth Benchmade knife. Managed two loose the other three. Love the knife but looking for a little larger fixed blade knife to edc. Really digging Halloran knives right now. Good guy, tough as nails blades made by a guy that has really hammered on a blade. Pardon the pun.

I usually like to carry a multitool paired with a dedicated knife: Victorinox Swisstool Spirit S and either a ESEE Izula or a Benchmade Mini Griptilian If I'm at work (white collar environment), the multitool goes in my bag and I carry a small, traditional slipjoint in my pocket: Case Peanut or GEC # 25 Barlow.

Cheap. I lose too much shit. And the more expensive something is, the faster I lose it. It's a talent. I'd be terrified to carry around a $50 knife -- it would vanish within a day. Which is exactly what happened last time I tried carrying a $50 knife. My EDC right now is an $8 CRKT Pazoda from the last Woot.com deal. Surprisingly nice knife, actually. I also have one of these from CountyComm -- $19 is apparently at the outer limits of my karma, so it has already vanished several times over the year or so I've had it. At the moment, I think I might possibly know where it is... Same thing applies to sunglasses. More than $20 and I'll sit on them in less than a day. Pay $1.49 for safety glasses and they'll stick around for years.
I carry a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Made in America - not that I care where it's made but the attention to detail on this one is evident Plain edge - love the full flat ground blade Don't need assisted opening, this thing opens fast with ease/control with the big thumb hole on the blade Also because the clip is 4-way adjustable, I can carry it tip up and open it as it leaves my pocket without changing grip CPM S30V metal - whatever that is it seems durable The best is the ergonomics of this thing! Good jimping on thumb rail and big grippy handle, it feels lightweight but solid and it fits so natural in your hand. Your thumb and index can grip on to the blade so you have so much control Can't say enough about it and it's an amazing value for the price. I'm not a big knife fan/collector, but I wanted 1 good one and this is what I found. I also carry a SAK in my pack and a Gerber multitool on trips
I'm partial to a really small pocket knife for EDC. I've been carrying this since my late father gave it to me the Christmas before he passed in '95.
I usually carry a Boker Subcom. Fits perfectly into the "key pocket" of a normal pair of jeans. Small enough not to freak out my office co-workers and the AUS8 steel holds an edge pretty well. I've had the same one for over 5 years and it's still in great shape. (some stock photo I pulled off Google Images) I have a couple of SOG automatics that I carry sometimes, too, and a Leatherman multitool that is usually either on my belt or in my backpack.
I love the Zero Tolerance line, as well as Emerson Knives. For the budget minded, check out the Kershaw One Ton, 3/4 Ton and Half-Ton models
