Hi Jay, I know you make these, but we are in the UK, so we need left handed mounts and we normally fabricate our own work. I'd be interested to see your mounts though, and the ball joint, if you don't mind sharing with this side of the pond! Completely understand if you'd rather not though. Cheers, Rod (Motopodd Ltd)
Here is a photo of the stock ball joint mount along with our new mount. Jay G DMC sidecars www.dmcsidecars.com 866-638-1793
I had one of those lower ball joint mounts on my R1200C and it made a big difference in the steering effort. Jay does do good work.
just a little info to pass along if anyone cares to dig in... Chromeheads is a forum specifically for owners of the R1200C variants. There is a very generous fellow on there, a BMW mechanic, who has been kind enough to put up some great info on basic maintenance and troubleshooting. He has a hack rig.
Thanks all, still don't have any decent pictures of a C subframe though! I guess we'll have to work it out ourselves, I was particularly interested in Ivan Rider's shot of the black C, as this is the same model we have in, and the pic shows that the pannier has been retained which is also what we would like to achieve.
We've hacked quite a few R1200C bikes. We make a subframe that doubles as a skid plate. Send me an e-mail if you want to see pictures. I can't figure out posting pictures on this site. Regds, Jim www.bmwsidecar.com
My C Hack has a tublar frame set up. Rather easy to remove the hack for one up riding as seen here. Apparently I can only upload one attachemnt per post so some more to follow on set up of frame that I hope will help you. I was told this was done at Dauntless.
one more........... Watsonian Squires Side Car. Not BMW. Just used the Roundel. If you need more for under frame, PM me.
Yep that's the same Dauntless sub-frame I've used on both my R1200C & CL. I had to modify it to fit the CL due to the longer frame.
I have a 1998 BMW R1200C with a model specific Velorex Sidecar with the exploded view, parts list, and technical data if any would be helpful. This rig was designed to be specific for the R1200C.
Perry in Fort Worth built mine. It was the forth cruiser he had built. He is a master craftsman in my expierence. Georgous rig that handled perfectly. PERFECTLY. Good luck. My ivory cruiser is somewhere in the Dallas area .
