I haven't actually planned a specific place to ride.
The hills around here are already filled with wet snow. That's no fun to ride in.
You bringing the 950? I might do something more Biggie Dual-Sporty,
due to the snowy hills and muddy roads near here.

So, I was thinking maybe heading East-ish, where the snow hasn't fallen, and there's little mud, yet.
That might mean some slab to get to a place to ride.
Maybe Antelope to DonnyBrook, or the Muddy Ranch Rd to Cherry Creek Ranch,
then down towards the Painted Hills? I haven't seen the Painted Hills National Monument area, yet.

I'm certainly open-minded. I hope Craig McCurdy can go with his 950, too.

Having worked out in the John Day area quite a bit I've questioned the ODFW guys a lot about the Cherry Ranch Rd. before I traveled it a few years ago. They drive out there a lot to check on their fish screens so they have a lot of local wisdom. And the one thing they kept saying is watch out if it's wet. And after riding it in the dry it was pretty obvious by the ruts in the road that if it's wet it's a mother to get any kind of traction. With that being said I can't wait to hear some reports from you guys on how the ride was on the Ktm's if it's wet. My Strom would hate it. Next summer my bike might just change colors to orange and black :clap

I've ordered new tires for the 950 but not here yet. Has stock Scorpions with 1/3 tread. Not good. I did lolo on Sunday. Wet hard pack, I would not have made it on the 950.

    You coming with us, Ladukebob?

I agree with the mud issue down there.
When I rode it in mid-February this year, the huge winter ruts were a problem,
but it was completely dry when I went, and hadn't rained for several weeks, so they were tolerable dry ruts.

I'm happy with just an easy DS cruise, pave/gravel mix. Dirt only if it's smooth enough and dry.
I'll have no problem turning around if it gets a bit ugly, and we can find another path.

"Seasoned" Scorpions and your WeeStrom will be just fine,...........really, I promise..:evil

Kidding aside, I haven't taken a good "long mileage" ride in a while.
I don't need any challenges for November, just a good 50 degree, sunny Winter day ride :1drink

I'm thinking it's been dry enough, but I'll see if Slow Joe knows anything about the conditions over that way.

Not that Tiger 800 you were thinking about early this year?
And now that Holloween is over, the Orange Demons are now haunting you?

Wish I could go but I need to be at work. Fridays are about the only weekday I can sneak off. I'll have to settle for looking at the cool photos you post up.

As much as I'd love the new Tiger I'm not sure I'm into having to go all the way into Ptown for service. If I go with a Ktm I've got Jason at Sigtech here in Hood River plus all you guys to lean on for any maintenance issues that might come up.

I'm in. Please let me know where and when. Please advise if route is going to be slick so I can bring my small bike, otherwise I'll bring the 950.

Friday is Veteran's Day so I have it off. I'd be glad to lead/host a ride in the Madras-Ashwood-Trout Creek- Painted hills stuff. I have a great route that crosses HWY 26 and leads along the edge of Bridge Creek Wilderness with a stop at Mt. Pisgah lookout to Mitchell.

I have space for RV's/trailers if someone wants to make it an overnight on my property. I someone wants to they are welcome to crash in my shop which has heat and a full bathroom.

Let me know if there is some interest.

The lonely old pickup at Horse Heaven ^^^^^^^

    um......Friday ??

Ladukebob might wanna....... but I gotta work Friday :cry ...Already scheduled.
and the weather forecasters have upgraded the Friday sunny day potential.

I'd love to follow you around those hills, MadChap!!
Bridge Creek Wilderness and I have some unfinished business :deal. We were juuuust getting started, when.....
My last ride there, coming the loooong way home from WetFest, got cut a bit short by my riding partner's crash there.
The next day was my first ride up Trout Creek to come home, tho. Good Stuff there, with lots of easy creek crossings.
Some of those places up high have got to have seen snow already, no?

But, Saturday....now.... could be the day to finally meet up with the MadChap, if you guys are up for it.
Slow Joe mentioned something to me about maybe being able to ride Saturday, too.
    In the rain, maybe :huh
    Applewife's gotta work a 12 hour shift......... and I don't :evil

Bummer to hear. Especially the going to BOSTON part :puke1

The forcast for Saturday that I'm looking at shows a slight - 15% chance of showers. It is pretty dry as of now so we should be just dealing with enhanced traction if it does rain a little. :evil Oh and less dust. Madchap? Or anyone else. My Saturday schedule is open.
