This thing works great. I think it's designed for atv use. That's it under the tent and bed roll. I know it's a little bit Clampet but it works well
Glad to know I'm not the only crazy person out there to consider trying one of those ATV rack bags on a motorcycle. Looks like it works pretty damn good too. I may still do that. I converted my Triumph tailpack to a mini-cooler but am thinking I'd rather have a bag like this. We'll see....

I've had bottles pop the cork, but never had a can explode. I've shook cans hard as a joke for a friend and never had one explode. I'm guessing something punctured a can.
Get a vacuum insulated growler and fill up at a tavern along the route. http://www.hydroflask.com/products/64-oz-wide-mouth-vacuum-insulated-stainless-steel-growler.html These things keep beer cold for many hours in the hottest weather, hold pressure, won't puncture, leak, or break, and no containers to carry in or out of camp. The 21 oz holds a big bottle microbrew. Refill as needed.
My co-worker packed beer and dry ice in a cooler, then wrapped it in tape. The plan was to surprise everyone 3 days into a river rafting trip in the middle of nowhere. When he took them out, they were frozen. :eek1 I've hiked with nitrogen charged Bodington's, and had no problems. After a day and a half on the trail, even warm beer is good. I thought I was really travelling light by only taking half of the 4-pack. Next time it will be something lighter like whiskey.
I did a 3 week float trip in the Alaska wilderness. We were bowhunting caribou and fishing. We were limited to 100 lbs each, which included food, camp gear, clothing, personal items, camera gear, hunting gear, fishing gear, etc. We took a flask of Everclear, which is 199 proof. Half an once with a pint of Tang each night got us through the whole time. One night we had a couple of pints of laced Tang and got silly.
My olympia AST jacket has a big assed rear waterproof cooler, er I mean pocket just perfect for 2 tall boys with ice, I am the cooler.
I've found Sapporo in those hearty cans are able to take more abuse than your average beer can. That is my first choice for moto-camping along with some Dale's Pale Ale wrapped in a towel.
