What did you do IN your Garage today?

sanded and painted my top and bottom side covers on my bmw dakar today. i painted them white so far, going to look for a good second color to spray on in a few days.

All ready for trip to Big Bend. New tires ( Mich. Desert Race ), fork oil change, re-pack muffler.

Jim, when I saw this picture, I wondered how long it will be before we get a report "I installed shelves and cabinets along the last open wall".

Tried charging/reviving the battery to no avail, so I cleaned on rest of bike. Looking on-line for best replacement battery.

I should have taken pix - I took down all the peg board and misc nick nacks from one nekkid stud wall and hung some Slat board that I got a few years ago from a shoe store that was closing. Tomorrow I'll add some sheet rock and pit all the stuff back on the wall. Well I might Sounds like a good plan but you never know what will happen once you get out of bed!!

Never! It is my shooting wall for videos. It stays clean as a backdrop.

wish I'd taken a picture, I processed all the scrap lumber that was piled in the garage. It was previously two walls and a set of stairs in the garage, and several walls between my kitchen and living room.

By processed I mean de-nailed and cut most of it into 16" lengths and gave it away as firewood. It completely filled a fullsize longbox truck.

here are a few pics, wanted a back rest that is better than the one that Yamaha made as part of the seat.

Should have painted it for green screen. Then you could show "tire changing in the outback/jungle/moon/etc.

That is beyond my editorial technical abilities!

I sure hope it wasn't galvanized. Zinc doesn't weld worth a shit!

Galvanized. Don't worry, I ground off the galvanized parts I welded, plus welded outside in a breeze and did not inhale the fumes.

New headlight mount to allow aux fuel. 4130 thin walled tubing. Very light.

I made my patio table levitate.

Actually this was the test lift of the hoist I made. I used a boat trailer winch and strap and mounted it in the garage attic. The final plan involves the table being lifted upside down with 4 legs holes cut in the ceiling so that the table sits up and out of the way.

I left my dome light on last night.

Was going to leave a bit early to get some tax forms and the truck was dead. Check battery voltage, zero. :huh Put charger on battery for about 5 minutes, just clicky clicky. Damn. Tried my SV battery too, no dice. Neighbor comes by and said he seen it on at 4 am this morning and he didn't want to wake me.

Ended up pushing truck back in neutral into the street and the neighbor gave me a jump start. Made it to work. Seems like just getting to work nowadays seems to be a big PITA.

Anywho, just went out and the truck started up, so I hope I didn't fry the battery.

finished the bottom end of an 1973 mx250 i'm rebuilding. took cylinder to my bore guy and decided to rebore - it's just at the edge of wear limit. just waiting on piston now.

finished the top end of a maico 400 motor that's been on the bench FOREVER while i waited for a con rod to show up. and mounted motor in a roller. have to work on the compression release and rework the chain tensioner tomorrow. maybe fire it up sunday/monday..

dicked around with a seized linkage bolt in a 1996 yz250. got frustrated with it - letting it sit for a day or 2 then tearing the back end apart to get a better look at it.

oh and did some bolty town stuff.

pulled the flywheel out of my K1200RS to get that leaking rear main seal out. replacement parts should be here on wednesday.
