It was a long and fun trip. The idea of a straight line from Seattle to Butte didnât excite me much, even though it would be easy to document and no problem to complete in 24hrs. Always one to over complicate things, I choose a large loop within Washington which basically consists of a loop in Eastern Washington blending into another around the Olympic Peninsula. The eastern portion included crossing the Columbia River twice, three Cascade passes (Snoqualmie, Chinook & Cayuse) and riding through the open lands between Ritzville and Pasco. The western loop around the peninsula, in addition to seeing the Pacific Ocean and rain forest, provides for some fun riding. I did my best to document all the âcornersâ not an easy thing with two loops.Wish I could have figured an easy way to add some more miles, in retrospect, Silverdale in lieu of Bremerton would have be easy, too late now. The 2005 Triumph Tigerâs odometer was more accurate than Iâd have guessed: 1021 miles per Odometer 1014 miles per GPS 1028 miles per the original plan (same route) using Mapsource. Time ended up being 21 hours and 3 minutes. The only breaks, other than gas & couple photo stops, were breakfast at Whistlinâ Jacks (40 min) and climbing the look-out tower at Westport. The route:
Chinook Pass: Whistlin' Jacks I went up the tower, just so my wife wouldn't think I spent the whole day sitting on my ass Westport Graylandloop Northern WA coast:
Oh yeah, I forgot. There are two initiation requirements. You have to buy Johnny Drunkard an 18 pack of his favourite suds and survive an hour alone with Toothygrin.....
I should have added: Trip started from the Boeing access road, South Seattle @ 2:30am on 9/14/05 completed at the same place 11:30pm 9/14/05. Documented stops along the way: Ellensburg Ritzville Pasco Whistlin' Jacks (Cliffdell) Morton Raymond Westport Forks Brinnon Shelton Bremerton Fife

good report, next time you drive right past my house stop by for some coffee. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72941 I'm seriously thinking about doing a 'around washington's perimeter' within the next month, how many days do you think it would take?
For years, while in the PNW4WDA, I helped with the beach cleanup there every Sep. Driven several jeeps on that beach, never took a motorcycle on it though. Would be fun on my ATK. More than a 24 hour ride, that's for sure. Couple of full days worth of just riding time, add to that all the site seeing time, throw in some dirt roads, could be a week, easy. ( unless you a trying for an Iron Butt certificate )
Yea, live 1/2 mile from Boeing access road. Let know when you're riding, I'm usually up for a ride anytime. Was very tempted to join the Duvall ride today, but I have work to do in my basement this weekend, been putting it off too long already. So far, I bought some supplies at Homede'poor but still stalling, sitting here on the 'puter.
