Has anybody noticed this on the KTM website yet?

Essential Powerpart for frequent off-road use or when traveling in countries with unstable fuel quality. The offroad / Bad Fuel dongle allows the use of "Bad Fuel" mappings so that the engine runs perfectly, even with bad quality fuel. In addition, the ABS and traction control can be turned off permanently (ie, they remain off even after turning off the ignition and restarting). Hardware is water and shock resistant in a plastic sleeve and is connected to the main harness, ready for use.

It looks like they are allowing people to turn off the ABS and traction control permanently if they want too on thier 1190's. So they are thinking people are still going to want to go offroad with the bike. :D

MSRP in the USA will be between $16,000.00 and $17,500.00.

The international web site states that the1190r is just $500.00 more than the 990r.

Why does my 950 look like such a pig next to the 1190?

Anyone catch whether the 1190 wheel set will be a straight swap out for the R wheel set ? Still thinking about adding one to the stable but I know how I will ride the beast on the street and, for me, I think I could use the 120/170 width more than 21/18 height part of the equation.

And, I always told Big Ugly that she could retire from primary duty at 50 (K, that is) and she hit that milestone last weekend.

Can't stop considering the possibilities of that 1190 motor on street twisties.

Assuming you can lengthen both sides I don't see why stability would be effected at all.

I'd ride the damn thing first and see how well it works like it is. Save the upgrade money to spend on tires and fuel. :D

If the suspension is well setup for the rider and riding style you may not be able to discern the difference in the missing 2.5 cm.

I was just too lazy to go find the original post to quote, and hoped that quoting your reply would include it. :1drink

The reason for shorter suspension on the 1190R, might also have with the abs to do. The mapping window of "antiturningover" and good breaking performance, is nearly impossible to find with long(er) suspensions travel/high center of gravity. This is the reason for KTM dont allows standard 990 suspension to be lenghted with abs bikes.
For the same reason, KTM dont allows swapping wheels between the two 1190 models.

Ah yeah I could see it perhaps fucking with the computers.

I guess that's one of the reasons I like my 950...

That being said personally I don't think 1" of travel will make a huge difference either way.

Just did an oil change on my friend's RC8. It was so easy:huh. It can take only 20min.

Two bolts that have screens attached to them plus the filter. That's it. No magnets on the bolts.

The new adventure uses the same engine as RC8 right?

Hasn't it always been the case that the US gets the model euro regions had a year earlier? Makes sense it won't be any different this time. KTM is a reasonably small manufacturer, odds are they just can't cope with a worldwide launch.

Here in Canada I think it has more to do with the left-over inventory of 990s sitting in showrooms...

This might mean the 2014 Model Year, possibly released in mid to late 2013 as is so often the case with vehicles.

I wonder if they're talking about the '14 model year, which could still come much earlier as they historically have with KTM. My two dealers are both still expecting the R in the late spring. At least they were when I called them two weeks ago.
