Would it be greedy to have a Daytona, Scrambler, 955 Tiger, 800xc and 1200xc in the garage? Now where did I leave that winning lotto ticket........?
I like the looks so far will have to wait and see when it comes out. Sold my Speedy and if all goes well in the next couple of years I will be looking at this bike or maybe the Stelvio as my next bike. I don't care about the bike for offroad thats what my DR is for ,I just want a good two up bike with a standard sitting position for long rides and every day bike.
Anybody else notice the bolt on passenger pegs? After my brush with an 800XC I came away thinking I might be interested in the roadie version at some point as it was such a competent bike. If they can keep this on track with the 800 roadie idea, just with more grunt and keep weight to around Strom levels I might be a sucker for it. Could fit well in the garage next to the 800GS.....(dare I say it) an upgraded strom? It's early yet, but I love this wait game as I'm always looking for something better.
Definitely another interesting new bike from Triumph, it had better be extremely competent and well sorted, what with BMW's new from the ground up, water cooled boxer in the works. Hopefully sooner rather than later, this new powerplant will be utilized in a pure sport touring format as well. I'm tired of tall bikes, here on the gusty prairies... Subscribed ! 996DL
If you mean a pure sport tourer - don't count on it. The Sprint ST/GT are now run out models. The only new bikes in the offing are the Tiger and the new RT style Trophy.
Bingo, this is the modular offshoot I would've had in mind. I might be a little behind, what's the powerplant to be used in this Trophy model ? 996DL
It's the same (new) big cc triple. Allegedly 140bhp and gobs of torque. Tiger 1200 for 2012, and then Trophy 1200 for 2013, I think.
Rumour has it that it'll be a derivative of the new Tiger motor - somewhere around 1200cc. 140 bhp has been mentioned. Happy days ahead for the triple crowd..
Thanks guys, my memory isn't what it used to be ! Yes that test mule photo of the Trophy rings a bell, I'll have to track down it's adv thread and subscribe as well. A lot of new iron coming down the pipeline, it'll help deal with the off season. 996DL
Disappointed that the Tiger 1200 appears not to have radial brakes. The brakes seemed liked the weak point of the 800 Tiger when i tested one.
Not so with my 800XC ABS, brakes on this bike are better then most others. No need for radial brakes, it's not a super sport or a super bike. Regards, Paul
Don't see any jugs hanging out so doubt if it is an exact copy. Triple sweet engine also. Won't move you sideways when you blip the throttle.
How in the world can it be an 'exact' copy of the GS - it's doesn't even have the same kind of engine for heaven's sake. It's a bike designed (it would appear) to compete with the big GS so exactly how different do you think it will/can be ?
