Thought I'd carve out a thread to post pictures of bike trips in and around New England, along with other mc trips and general mayhem.... So with that, I'll start here. Did a trip to Colorado this past August. I cheated by tossing my bike in the back of a van to get to the fun stuff. I had just purchased a new to me van that came with a 3 month bumper to bumper and I wanted to give it the test. . So I split on the evening of 8/8...... . . . stopped to make some quick coffee in western mass...... . . stopped again in Buffalo to take a 4 hour nap.....then more coffee & highway... . . . . . . . . . . . stopped again for a 4 hr nap in Nebraska.... coffee... . . . . . stopped to rotate the tires at the wallmartyse..... front tread was all chewed up, rears looked new.... . . .
Do you get good mileage on that bus? Considered that before I bought my dually in 2005. Finally paid off and still under 100,000 miles! I get around 22 without a trailer.
I made it to Denver in just over 42 hrs.... so I wandered Boulder looking for a place to park for the night after stopping a few places. Took a stroll up Baseline Drive thinking i could park off the side of the road. Last time I was there I took a bicycle ride up. Steep rd with lost of curves. .... these small 5 cylinder van engines dont like the work of chugging up this rd..... bicyclists were passing me. . . Bunch of no overnight signs, so headed back into town and found a walmart....had a few beers and listened to the radio... saw this rig pull up....:eek1 . better picture the next morning.. cool rig for sure.... well, I gave up on Steve....f*cker. Got a spot at the local storage in longmont I think it was.....$25 bucks for the van for the month. Done.
Nice van, nice pics! Looks like great weather all the way from NH to Denver. Something wrong with that GS?
It was a left just before Fairplay to Hastel, small jump accross rt.24 south into Salida...... nice rolling hills like i like........... I had lunch in Salida and checked out a few shops...... Picked out this T for my little girl...... fast forward a little..... she loves it Headed south on rt17 and cut over to South Fork on 160....... I had no agenda for this trip, just thought I'd noodle around and see what I see. Rt149 looked like it had a bunch of spots to play, so I headed north and thought i'd see if I could find a tent spot....... found a site a little ways up the road.....
Breakfast and play.......... trusty ol kershaw.... washing up at the stream.... met these 2 folks on this turnout. They are from Seattle and on the site...... they took a mug-shot for me.......
Stopped and talked to thes kids from New Jersey, also on the site. They were out for quite a while. Headed to a wedding or something. I shoulda took pics, but i wasnt always ready. Anyways, alpine loop I think....a ways up 149.....played around there for a while.....
Headed north on 149 totally weaving around. Looking back I probably should have made some general course......I blame my undiagnosed a.d.d. 149 hooked up with rt 50, I took that towards Montrose. I met some great folks, ranchers, there about a week later....i was so lost, but whats new. GPS is good for fire wood as far as im concerened. But thats another story. Off of rt 50 found some more dirt roads.....looked like fun.....
Thanks. Ya im stoked. It drives like sh*t but gets good gas. The old 10 m.p.g. Ford just wouldnt cut it anymore...
I spooked some horses and so thought id turn around, throw up a tent, have a bite to eat, and have a drink......call it a day... dinner..............
A new morning....need coffee. packed up... hit the road......beautiful country making dust.............. this ends at rt. 550 .......... one of my favorite roads. Ridgway. A great way to start a day.
