What is the single best modification you have made to your bike?

I know this is a purely subjective thing, but I will start: I have added about the value of my KLR in farkles, it seems, and they are all useful (guards, seat, heated grips, center stand, yada yada). But... The best dual sport mod I have made was putting on actual cleated off road footpegs. Free mod for me, as I had an old set off my dearly departed DRZ. hands down, I appreciate the confidence when standing and when in the slippery stuff more than all the "cool" SW Motech bits I have.

Anyone else have a (maybe surprising) favorite mod?

Gasoline! Every time I add gasoline to my bike, it does amazing things for me.

To be serious, my wind/rain resistant hand guards.

Stebel Nautilus Horn is my favorite mod.

Tiger 1050 -- tossup between the givis (let's me use it as, bascially, a car (running errands and the like) and the Alaskan Sheepskin Buttpad, which extened my range by a factor 2, eaisly.

KLR -- Set Concepts seat kit.

Converted from clip-ons to handlebars. Unless you're on a track, clip-ons suuuuuck! I'm a commuter, so side cases/top box is also pretty high on my list.

Hot grips. I know you own a great pair of heavy winter gloves. Maybe even heated. I also know that when the temp drops from 70° in the afternoon down to 40° later in the evening, the heated grips will be there while the heavy gloves are still hanging on a peg back in the garage.

Heated Grips are the best add to any bike in my book. To know you can have warm hands no matter what! That is priceless!

Suspension. Just changing out springs to the correct rate made the single biggest difference of any modification I've done on any of my bikes present and past. Couple that with a revalve to suit speed/conditions and any bike can go from just acceptable to outstanding!

Handlebars, to make the bike fit me. Best single modification on many bikes I've owned.

Best mod...toss up between my heated grips (I ride year round) or my bike mounted GPS.

I think I'd have to pick the GPS, allows me to explore much more back roads than paper maps ever did.

Russell sport seat. The stocker was ml horrible.

Pilot Road 3 tires on my GS/A. Totally transformed the bike's road manners. Freakishly sticky in the rain too.

Whelen TIR3 Super LED auxiliary brake light.

That really is the truth, no farkle is better than an improved suspension. . Once you know the difference you can't go back.

All of these are geared towards offroading.

#1 Steering stabilizer it keeps the bike and me upright ,a close second and third are: suspension resprung & revalved / an extra set of wheels with most aggressive DOTs. (AC-10)

best modification was to me, years ago, by taking a track school and learning the right way to ride fast and smooth.
