RTW with Noah on a KTM 690

I think he said it was because he had already set up the '10 and he didn't want to find any unknown damage to the '08 while out on the trail that was caused from the hijacking. Sounds like he had moved on mentally to the new bike as well.

Tracking what bike is the current ride can be confusing so here's a summary of the saga.
It started as a very modified 2010 KTM 690 enduro R which he rode across the USA and Canada and then set up for Europe. That perfectly set up 2010 was then stolen on day one on arriving in Ireland :huh.
Noah then bought Fishfunds 2008 KTM 690 and set that up. (That is a VERY well travelled bike (Chicago to South Africa to Sweden) and it was an Extremely problem ridden bike that drove us following along nuts from frustration.) Just as Noah finished setting up the 2008 his 2010 was recovered. He stayed with the 2008 because he had already arranged the US registration for the "new" 2008 (and the 2010 needed work). He then sold the 2010 and is now sleeping a lot closer to the 2008

Loved your photos of the Dolomites and Alps - it's one of my favourite parts of the world. You missed a great hike/view north of Lago di Cadore with the Tre Cime - three very distinct peaks, but it is a day's hike there to the rifugio (Locatelli) and back, so maybe time wasn't on your side (there is a private road to drive up to another rifugio (di Auronzo), but it's expensive and it's cheating).




The red and white signs painted on the rocks are just markers for a sentiero or path, they often have a number in them to indicate the route - makes hiking easy(-ier) in the mountains.

Good to see Passo di Tonale - I learnt to ski there many years ago.

These work great to balance out spoked wheels. JIMINWC is an inmate here, check them out, highly recommended

But they do look like a PITA to machine. I don't think the price is too far off base.

Just stick wheel weights on the rim and overlay with Gorila tape.

Been on my wheels for 25,000 KM, no issues and no vibration. Statically balanced. Tire imbalance is next to nill compared to the wheel lock. Balance that out and you're fine.

BTW, I really appreciated the North Italy pics. Looks like a great area. Will have to experience it sometime. Reminds me of my backyard here.

then you've never machined anything difficult....... $55 to balance a wheel? that's crazy talk..... i'm done.....

Careful Noah..I lived in Iran and Turkey in the late 70"s and early 80's and flashing a thumbs up is the same as flashing the middle finger here in the states.
I saw a hitchhiker in Iran at the time with his thumb up hoping for a ride. No one picked him up..
Maybe the jesture has changed??
