Definitely like the after much more than before. Great Job. Have to keep pine sol in mind. Before cleaning the tank, you may want to borrow a fish eye scope and inspect it to see if it any extra work on the tank is needed.

Those are from your 1984 Honda Sabre VF700S? I thought I was seeing things, as my son and I just dropped the carbs from a newly acquired 1982 Honda Sabre VF750S into a bucket on Pine Sol last night. Did you drop them in all assembled like that? Ours were a mess. We pulled the jets and everything else we could.

I left the carbs assembled as a rack but removed the jets, floats, diaphragms, needles, etc. For me it was easier to keep the parts matched up for each carb if I left them assembled and I numbered them. One spot that almost got me was after I thought the jets were clear and I started installing them. I backed up a step, held each one up to a light, and found one that was plugged solid. The only way I could clear it was to use the wire twist tie from a loaf of bread (after burning off the plastic coating).

I also had a float valve stuck in its bore. After soaking for 22 hours in Pine Sol it came out easily.

All in all, it worked out well.

I see that Metal Rescue is available at Home Depot so that's easy enough. Where do you pick up citric acid? Home Depot's site does not list it...

Fairly equal in that they both do the job, and are acids, but they are not the same chemical.
Mmm Mmmm. Honey, this sure is a tasty White Vinegar Meringue pie. :rofl

Citric acid = orange juice? Probably not good for cleaning carbs, though....

:lol3 Well you don't actually use OJ.

Citric acid can be bought in crystal form and you mix it up into a solution when your ready to use some.

I bought bulk citric acid from www.hardrhino.com when I refinished the
cedar siding on my home. Turns out citric acid has many uses.

Closer. I prefer lemon. As mentioned above you can buy crystalized cirtic acid, but lemon juice is also a good source of fairly strong citric acid, and has been a mainstay for boiling carbs for generations of motorcyclists.

Denture cleaning tablets also contain citric acid.
Drop a couple down the loo and leave overnight to clean it.
    $3 for 90 at Wal-Mart.
