Oh I'm fairly certain it would, if someone were so inclined. And if the BMW factory guys weren't riding along watching you like a hawk. And if it weren't unsafe and illegal. And if Swampy approved.

LOL, And if your your Screamin' Eagle Softtail Boot Hill, Limited Edition La-De-Dah just doesn't serve your compelling posing inclinations anymore, this is the bike for you.

And don't worry -- you can expect the same off-road capabilities that your Harley delivered.

I rode the yellow GS 800 in the group just ahead of Inept.
Following the group around town would only allow me to judge a few differences between the 800 and my 650 Wee.
As expected, the engine was great. Shifting was better than the Wee by just a smidgen.

During the whole ride, I was trying hard to tune-in to all the GS had to offer and see how much improved it was over the Wee.
As soon as I climbed off the GS, greeted and said a few words to Inept, I climbed back on my Wee to compare.

Sorry to say as nice as the 800 is, a burning hunger to own one just didn't happen. Not that the VStrom is that good.
No,,it's really not that bad,,,,,,,,,,,and it's paid for!

    Fixin it up here, Boss

With some TKCs mounted up, I think the F8GS would be better than my KLR offroad (that's not sayin much, but still). And waaaaay better onroad. Not a dirtbike by any means--a dirt road bike.

But I checked my couch, and I only came up with 15 cents not 15 grand

Our beloved George Carlin had a diddy on our "STUFF" man. How you had to take your "Stuff" with you.

I have learned to pack differiently, all my camping gear, including tent, sleeping bags mats, etc and all my food and cooking gear are packed into one "CREDIT CARD".

    I travel light...and live large...

It looks super tall, but it's actually not; seat height was pretty close to my KLR, maybe an inch higher. I couldn't flat-foot it, but wasn't tiptoeing it either. And I do believe BMW came out with their 800 before Triumph came out with the Tiger, but regardless of who copied who, I like 'em both. I gotta agree with ya that there's a lotta fragile-looking plastic to break in the event of a fall, but hey I'm a KLR rider and I keep plenty of duct tape, JB Weld, baling wire, and zip ties on hand.:D

Ya mean that black'n'yeller '09? Yeah Richard discussed that one with me, that's a fantastic example of a low-mile, pre-farkled F8, but like I told Richard--I ain't got 2 pennies to rub together!:dunno

It's all I can do to keep Shinkos on Ye Olde KLR

Indeed, since TLH no longer has a BMW store, Pensacola's success would be good for us too.

I hope somebody impresses upon the new shop that they will live and/or die upon service and INVENTORY. Nothing in the age of the internet is so annoying as to hear the parts man say, "I can get it for you by Wednesday" when I can get it delivered to my door by Tuesday.

    So True so true!

Since I dont have a bike "under warranty" I hardly ever go into to shop anymore... I just order on line and do it myself...

But it is nice to know we have a shop locally....

madhouse i'm not quite sure i should be talking to you after what i saw pete called you last week???:huh
but i have to say you are right maybe one day i will have the nickles needed to own a real class bike like those shown but it's just not in the cards right now.:cry
i also have to say that when i grow up i want to be more like inept , i think he has one of the best ways of looking at life of anyone i've ever met. he does not seem to let too many things smother his life force.
i did have acouple of full street bikes one hd and one 1700cc warrior and enjoyed riding in ga. where there are roads that ,,,,, change elevation and ,,,,have curves???
but when i got here those were found to be boring.:cry
but to all of you true dual sporters :freakyi say cheers, just be careful on the street , some people use m/c riders for bumpers:eek1.
hey tony just for the record , i don't aggree with pete.:lol3
    i wanna ride

FBM, I gotta warn ya mang--it'd be a huge mistake to 1) grow up, and 2) be more like me:lol3

But now I gotta tell ya something in regards to how I look at life (since you brought it up): Every day is a Gift.

    Every.

    Single.

    Day.

And that, as you say, is NO :topes
