Found this on Liveleak. Wanna know what kind of stresses a hull goes through during rough seas?

    Eagle is awesome, and beautiful.

Unfortunately, she was on the west coast while I was working in New London (her home port), so I've never seen her in person. :cry

I keep my boat in Destin, FL and heading over to Pensacola to a convention. I'll stay on the boat and ride my bicycle over to the hotel/convention :evil

About 45-50 miles each way so not a huge adventure but beats the hell out of driving over and staying in a hotel.

Another gorgeous vessel I've never seen in person. :lol3

OTOH, I'm going back to my first boat early next month:

The Chieftain is a funny boat, but I like her; of course, everything depends on the crew, and they hired me, so it's anyone's guess about the quality of the folks I'll be working with.:deal

More seriously, if anyone's in the area, check out the Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain. They're good boats, they do fantastic programming, and the people are mostly a great bunch. There's a full calendar and other information at the historicalseaport.org website.

    That is a beautiful boat.
I lived aboard my Seaward 23 at 10 foot hole in Apalachicola and sailed some of those waters.

A veritable flotilla of warships snapped from my kayak (well really a decked canoe).

First is a Canadian coast guard patrol boat that I didn't get the name of. Usually spotted in the middle of Lake Ontario looking to snag evil smugglers...y'know sailboaters crossing the lake with cheap US booze. The most used piece of equipment on board is a point of sale terminal (seriously, they have a handheld, satellite, terminal so you can be fined $1000 for crossing the border without declaring...and pay with your Visa on the water. Go Canada. :huh )

$2.5mil a pop, they have to recoup the cost somewhere. The RIB is launched off the mothership with a trio team of RCMP, Coast Guard, and Ministry Of Revenue.

The big frigate is the Ville De Quebec, one of Canada's "super frigates". The smaller ship infront is a US minesweeper, with a slow leak thus the boom around it.

The smaller ship in back is the WW2 Tribal Class frigate HMCS Haida. Saw action in the North Sea fighting U-boats, provided fire support during D-Day and was damaged by coastal batteries in Korea.

The pics don't scale the disparity between the two comparable ships enough. The modern frigate is 3x the tonnage, almost twice the length and double the height of it's WW2 counterpart.

I was on Mariposa 397 in Seattle in the early 90's. Brings back memories that's for sure.

Some photos I took while Kayaking on Sunday.

Gorgeous yacht. I wish I would have been able to get a better photo of the exterior woodwork.

I suppose these may qualify in the thread? They're on barges, so I guess that would make them acceptable.
