So I had an open pushbutton slot by my left handgrip and did not want to spend the $60+ that KTM charges for a remote odometer control switch. The top red button is an on/off switch for the heated grips: So I got this: trailtech remote switch extension cable ($10), and a black momentary button, wired them together and voila'...a button that allows you to scroll through all the odometer functions from the handlebars.
Thanks to PFb here is the wiring diagram: KTM Computer <-> Trailtech Switch Yellow = Mode <-> Green = Middle Button Blue = + <-> White = Top Button Purple = - <-> Yellow = Bottom Button Green = Common <-> Red I think some older KTM computers have a brown wire instead of the purple, same function. In addition to the four wire 'external switch' connector, the KTM computer has a two wire connector (magnet pickup, white and gray wires) and a three wire connector for backlight/external power. The computer works perfectly and retains all functions without the external power being connected, but you won't get the nice orange backlight. You can wire the power feed to the computer always hot. The backlight turns on as soon as the computer activates (front wheel rotation or hit any of the buttons), and turns off when the computer times out after sixty seconds of no activity. Power Connector Colors: Red = 12V Brown = Ground Black = Cripple (street legal mode)DO NOT connect the black wire to ground! If you do, it puts the computer into 'street legal' mode and locks out some of the computer enduro functions. Also won't allow you to set wheel size. Just clip it and forget that it is even there. <!-- / message --><!-- edit note -->

According to a lawsuit filed last week in San Francisco Superior Court, the seat left its driver with a two-year erection.<o></o> Henry Wolf filed suit against BMW North America and Corbin-Pacific, Inc. He claimed in the lawsuit that the ridged seat of his 1993 BMW motorcycle caused him mental and emotional anguish after it left him with a severe case of priapism, aka a long-lasting erection.<o></o> Wolf said he rode the motorcycle in San Francisco on a four-hour round trip on May 1, 2010 and developed the priapism soon after.<o></o> Wolf has been experiencing continuing problems since his motorcycle ride, his attorney, Vernon Bradley of Sausalito wrote in the lawsuit. He is now unable to engage in sexual activity, which is causing him substantial emotional and mental anguish.<o></o> The motorcycle seat was manufactured by Corbin-Pacific, Inc., the suit said. Wolf suffered wage loss, hospital expenses, general damage and emotional distress from his condition, and he is seeking an unstated amount of compensation, the suit said.<o></o>
just picked up an 09 530 exc a couple weekends ago. first woods ride this past weekend. i can tell im gonna love this bike. it ran great in dry conditions but bogged completely in deep mudpuddles and creek crossings. im hoping taking all the smog stuff off will fix this before somebody runs up my tailpipe:eek1. was the little black box down by the swingarm filling with water i presume. desmog in progress today. i ve got a lot of reading to do here though ive kept up with this thread regularly through the years. thanks for all the input here as it was a big reason i went with the 530
I think the bike and I are finally ready for the Mex2Can ride next week. 5 days of riding through the desert from the Mexico border to Fallon Nevada. Got some farkles and extras over the last few months: Wolfman luggage; enduro tank bag, fender bag, enduro tool bag, and 1 litre fuel bottle with holder. Clockworks tank new gearing HDB handguards HDB powerlet mount Michelin AC10 tires Forks freshened up by SuspensionDR in Onalaska, WA A few picts of the bike. Ride starts May 7. The cockpit Had to make some straps to hold the fuel bottle holster on the Enduro Tool Bag The fender bag makes the bike steer heavy. Kind of different but not terrible. Would not want to ride with all this stuff on all the time.
How will you strap the TV/monitor onto the bike and where will you put it? Will you wire it in to your GPS so you can achieve a larger font size? Probably not on the front fender, as that would make the steering even heavier... perhaps to the tank bag? Sorry; couldn't resist. I am a smartass at heart. Sounds like a great trip. Brief update on the 500... I was never able to solve an intermittent but persistant misfire, and after a few close calls as a result, I decided to stay with the XC4 for the moment, and leave new technology to the experts, people who aren't afraid of laptops like I am. I'm sure that my experience was unique, and the 500 clearly has both awesome performance and a polish that the older bikes do not... but I'll wait a while before trying that game again.

how long are you guys getting between piston changes and crank rebuilds? the bikes I'm wondering about are a 400excr and 450excr used for trail riding and dual sport use. There stock. cheers joe
