Looking out from the saddle I could see a good chunk of my route, but not where it entered the canyon yet.

After excellent riding the route dropped in.

The four wheel drive tracks turned around here.

Forty Nine consecutive dirt miles out of a Seventy Seven mile total.
Really old no BS STL sign on the post, and the new PC sign and box.

Is the sand worse this year or is driving a 330+ pound bike the reason I am getting worked?

    :eek1
    BOTH!
    And I like sand!

I had been looking at a loop on the map that would get me out of a lot of the sand.

dawg, you're killin me... this stuff is all striking distance from my driveway and I havent got time to go find it!

I took the 4runner up to whitewater to see the cranes with kiddo and momma, and was tempted to trek out off gleeson onto some two track Ive never been on. Momma was unimpressed with the idea.:rofl

With such a short window of four months here for me, a concentrated effort is needed to the get things done that I plan all summer in CO.

PM any time you do want to get out.

I chatted with a few local lads for a few, they told me the trail I was going to take has a cabin.

With a concrete floor, bead board walls, T and G ceiling and a tin roof, this place was very comfortable at one time.

Out of the hills, I rolled through Dobsons ranch then across the west side of Allen flats to the head of what the local lads had called Scorpion canyon.
    And more nice sand.

The gravel, rock, and sand has been moved allover the place from the great monsoons this summer.

This Juniper root must have had to go around a big boulder that is no longer there.
