Any absurdly large guys here ride one? I know a guy who is thinking about picking one up as a mile-eater, but he is about 6-8 and over 250 lbs. How did lowering the pegs affect clearance - did you drag them a lot?
Come on, only two pages for this wonderful sport touring bike? This bike has a huge following, where is everybody?...And I don't even own one.
Some Concours pics from this summer's Maine tag-o-rama. My Concours kicked some tag-o-rama ass. Concours at the Mason-Dixon Monument, northwest of Salsbury, Maryland.
To quote field of dreams " build it and they will come" before a couple of weeks ago there wasn't even a thread for C-10 owners to post pictures of these great sport-touring machines . But I have a feeling that, in time, this thread will grow and show the great history of this pioneer in sport-touring motorcycles.
I'm not excessively tall. Maybe 5' 11" . I felt pretty folded-up with the standard pegs . I don't roll it in so hard to scrape the newly lowered pegs; I left that tendency behind 30 years ago. Will they drag if leaned hard enough ? I don't know. Probably. Between the peg lowering and the extra height of the Russell seat ( maybe another 1") It is very comfortable now. The OEM seat was horrible for me.
Maybe a little, I don't think the fan came on as often. Now all I need to do is get the carbs back on get her fired up again Jerry
I really like that Blue, When I was looking for mine I was keeping a special eye out for any 01's.. But it was not to be..
Fork springs (Progressive Suspension, Race Tech, Hyper Pro, Sonic), rear shock (Progressive 465, Hagon), fork brace (Holeshot, KB) I added Sonic fork springs and a KB fork brace to my '03, which helped greatly. If I'd had the Connie longer than I did I'd have looked at adding a new shock. Stainless steel brakes lines and good brake pads will go a long way in helping with the braking.
Here is my Connie. I have been with her for 2 years and love her like the day I met her. Always wanted one from way back in '86 when I had my KZ1000J. Added bar risers and peg lowerers. Added a backrest risers for the ole lady and packing for camp 20k later and she still is a blast to ride. And yes, the red ones are faster
A damn good machine. A spectacular machine for the money (I think I paid $2500 for mine, lightly used). Took two, two-up tours (see sig). Bar risers, Corbin saddle, Rifle winshield. Sold it to buy the GS.
Some Race Tec cartridge emulators will make a HUGE difference in how the front end works. New springs and a fork brace help, too. Here's mine
