So, I think I might be interested in swapping my touring windshield ( pic post 1088) for the sport shield. Anyone interested please pm me.
If anyone has used an EasyRizer lift for their R1200R, please PM me. I suspect there is an easier set-up for the pegs than what I did on my red lift. Fred
...I've got a CEE Bailey windshield and a GPR exhaust for sale in the FM if you have any needs for such. Like new. The GPR is a sweet pipe!
Anyone have any experience with using this on the OEM touring screen? http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/R1200R/8110024-025.html Good? Bad? Other options? I currently ride with no screen because I prefer clean air over the horrible buffeting I experience with the shield. Thanks ahead.
I have several friends who use these and like them. (I guess they would take them off if they didn't like them).
Hmm, I think I'd prefer an MRA vario spoiler over that, but I'd have to see both installed. I still need to gather up the gumption to order an OEM tall screen and bracket - I know I'll want something taller than the sport screen for the winter, but I worry that I'll hate it so much I'll be forever switching between that and the sport screen brackets.

Advice, please? I have been doing a relatively short commute, daily, of less than five miles on a Honda SH300i for the past four years. London commuting is congested to say the least, but on two wheels you can be pretty confident of getting to work on time and arriving feeling invigorated. The alternative is the claustrophobia and grind of the Underground, or, worse still, the Buses.. the buses.. the buses. So.. While I sit there, like a sack of potatoes, on my scooter, I cannot help dreaming of getting back on a proper bike. Why? The Honda is quick and all you have to do is point and squirt.., but there is this overwhelming desire to be on the real thing.. and IMO that can only mean the 12R. I miss the gears - there is something just that little more cerebral about gears versus a continuous transmission. This is an itch that I have been scratching now for three years and it is only getting itchier. Back to the questions: Am I mad? (My friends and family worry about a 'bigger bike') How would the 12R cope with short commutes? Would it wreck the bike? Is an air/oil head better suited to short journeys than, say, a conventional bike? I would give it longer blasts regularly, so it won't be wanton cruelty. I have a young family (early teens). Am I being selfish? At what age is it reasonable to take children/teens on trips? (Fully kitted, of course.) Am I just a pathetic individual going through a mid-life crisis? To answer some of the questions myself, and there is always a danger that I am just trying to justify the end result: The scooter is great, but I miss being able to 'feather' the clutch at low speeds - the scooter tends to snatch a little at low speeds. Scooters also have little, or no, 'road presence' and tend to get hustled in commuter traffic. I believe, and think that I observe that, bigger bikes get more 'respect' from other drivers of all descriptions - ordinary cages, white vans, taxis and buses. I am just of a temperament that needs the space/independenc/freedom that bikes offer. I am an ex-'Bob Skeleton' rider and ex-military and have always liked a little wind in my face. Do I do it? Or do I don't? Help! Oh.. did I forget to mention that I test rode a new one the other day. Amazing - a copy of my licence and twenty quid insurance .. and the beast was mine for an hour and a half. Wow! I loved it.. Luckily I didn't take my cheque book, or I would't have had time to come here for a reality check. -
