Well, I survived the rain and didn't get wet.
I learned to put on the rain suit BEFORE the rain starts.
And it didn't rain that night so my tent stayed dry.
I am looking at good weather for the next week so its time to enjoy the blue skies and have some FUN!
    Here's some more pictures

I look at others blogs. And I have spoken to others that have done the same trip to Alaska. It seems that most people rush up there and rush back and miss the journey along the way. I am doing the opposite. The whole point of my trip is not just to say I did it and strike Alaska off my bucket list. It is to see this beautiful country from off the saddle of my motorcycle.
I have been traveling for over a week now and just crossed in to Oregon from my home in So Cal. !500 miles so far. I have been taking routes that I am sure no other person has gone on their way to Alaska. I want to make sure I don't miss anything along the way. And get off the interstate.
    I have the time.
I am not rich by any means.
I am camping and staying with friends along the way. I am hoping to meet some new friends so I don't wear out my tent.
    Enjoy the ride
    Enjoy the journey
    Enjoy the adventure

I jumped off of Interstate 5 as I was tired of getting stuck behind RV's and semi trucks pulling 3 trailers. I found this little beauty of a road heading north

    Here's another shot

And after riding for an hour on these back roads, here's is what I came to. I found another way out but it involved a lot of searching. And I was down to my last gallon of gas

Hey Ed, Nice pictures! Remember, it's not raining on you, it's just raining.

Looks like we will be doing some ADV'ing in Argentina when we go... The better half wants to do some exploring, too bad you won't be there at the same time.

    Keep the shiny side up:).

    Cheers, James

For me anyway, the key to surviving rain is staying warm. I think even the best gear I've had ends up with a few trickles down the neck or in your crotch so I put on my electric vest if it looks like more that a brief squall.

I left out of Prescott one time in a terrible rain thinking it would clear up but didn't. The rain was pouring into my suit. After 20 miles I realized I was shivering. On went the Widder and the grip warmers on high...15 minutes later my attitude was transformed...ended up making Gallup and feeling good enough for a nice dinner (too bad I was in Gallup?!).

Every night I search for a place to sleep. I hardly ever go to the busy and noisy (and sometimes expensive) campgrounds where kids are screaming and your squeezed together. So I went looking for a place to sleep on the Yakima River and found this abandoned house

Here is wht it looked like on the inside. I put my tent up because there were lots of bugs crawling and flying around

On the walls there was some neo nazi grafifiti so I changed it up a bit just to piss them off

Here's a view of the "house" on the Yakima River

While hanging out at my abandoned house, I watched a guy go by kayaking on the Yakima River and it looked like so much fun. So it the morning, I called Rill Adventures 509 964 2520 and got on the River in a kayak. A must do if you are in the area. And a bargain too!
