Not my bike or photo, but it might as well be. Same color, seat, bags and fork boots. Identical. Mine's an 85, originally silver but resprayed in black. I bought it off CL in 2001 with 30K for a song...and thought I had a steal until the sorting process started. The PO went on the cheap too many times and I doubled my $$ in six-months. Parts are not cheap, but since the two main mechanical culprits were solved (fuel pump, coils) it's been as reliable as legend paints it.

The K was introduced in 1983. The bike was available in the USA two-years later. Most (RSs) were silver or blue.

It'll cruise at 100-mph all day. Good, stable handing, OK power but could use another gear. Crap clocks and only so-so on the comfort scale but these really are 300K + engines. Good bike...buy a serviced bike though!

My 85 K100RS with a little Turbo and a Honda front end with 17" front tire, a R1100 rear 17" and Fat wheel etc.
Kinda quick and handles nice. It has a newer/better corbin on it now.
I am building a larger tank for it also.

... get me in trouble, east high, but I guess it's my own fault, ha!

I loaned it to my wife, Cary, and she dumped it on a bumpy, downhill, foggy stretch of the Lost Coast at fairly low speed ... She picked it up and rode it home 300 miles (after Kalle helped her fix the shifter with a couple of hose clamps and an Allen wrench) ...

As I'm sure you know, they don't crash too well ... ground through the valve cover and fairing, which is what the land on ...

I have 2 marrakesh red K75s bikes (88 and 91). The BMW colour code is 643. They are the colour of SFMC John13's machine.
I also have a red 87 that looks that copppery color but only on the top. Sun fade as the belly pan and rad shroud are red but not that red. BMW colour code 575.
    Hope that helps.

This maybe one of the best K buys I've every heard of short of inheritence:rofl. Usually they look just as good from the outside but are rotten from the inside out. I bought my first K75 with 19K miles for $1500 in Arizona but spent another $3K making her safe and worthy. I put another $1500 in making her pretty. Congrats....a amazing bike. Maybe I should have been drinking like you.....:huh But in the end, it was a beautiful bike. Congrats and ride safe.

I got lucky with that purchase. Just needed a new set of tires.
