Negative! I'm on my second as the first one was a lemon but Triumph made it right.

Thanks Swimmer, this is timely as I am replacing tires as well. Taking off the Pirellis and replacing them with Heidenau K76's. Hope they wear better.

Cancel the hand guards. They're crap. If you want to stick to Triumph stuff, look at the Tiger1050 ones or, otherwise, look at Barkbusters. Otherwise, enjoy your new bike.

Thats true they are pretty crap. I made some ali extenders for mine on the original bike. 1050 ones should work better.
just have to turn up some spacers/bar ends

    Question to XC owners...
I just placed order for new 800XC today - expected delivery is 2-3 weeks. I mean - in the past I did test drive, today I sat on it and checked all over again, I looked it over each time I've been to dealership but...but I forgot to check something.
I totally forgot to look if radiator have some protection in stock state. Which is important for me (had bad experience with exposed rad in the past).
Does XC radiator have any kind of grill or I have to order one?
I know which one I will order if I need to, but if there is plastic grill - it's fine for me...anyone?

Confirmed. I made the same mistake and bought the R&G guard before I took delivery. Doh! :cry

Big DR became too troublesome after reaching 130 000 km :) 3500+ km Morocco ride killed freshly rebuilt engine top end...again (my mistake, not bike to blame) and I decided at 41 years of age I should make myself present - brand new bike.
I am keeping Firestorm VTR1000F thou.
Check in DR Big tread
It was heartbreaking decision, but it is what it is. Besides - selling all my part and my DR for parts brings me easier money than selling complete bike.
And after ordering XC for some reason I am not even sad anymore. I moved on

Maybe I'll pop the V-Strom ones off the FJR and see how they fit on the T800 this morning.

I know the 800 whistles, but I've got a low-pitch whining noise that is constant, in any gear, between 3000 and 4000 RPM under load. The noise is very noticeable, but tolerable. Above 4000 RPM, or closed throttle (no load) the noise goes away. The bike is a new 2012 with 630 miles on it.

Mine is a 2011 and it does the same thing. My '06 Speed Four made odd sounds at various RPM's as well.

My 2012 XC started making a noise I would describe the same way after the last service. They adjusted the chain tighter than I normally keep it and I wonder of that is the noise.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I may try to tighten the chain a bit tomorrow and see if that changes anything. I'll report back.

Mine isn't the chain, it comes from up front and I think it is either a resonance in the header or the cam chain.

The 1050 guards offer more weather protection than the 800's. Do you have the 800 guards? They offer almost no wind blockage on top. I've got the 800 guards. I am either going to add some extensions to the top or get something else when next winter rolls around.
