I have a single axel trailer that I built using a surplus axel. It has the same bolt pattern and hub opening as the CJ-5 Jeep . I am looking for an aluminum wheel that will be a direct fit without an adaptor . Are there any sources for the aluminum wheels that came later on ? Or any other aluminum wheels?
The CJ's had a 5 bolt on 5" centers. Do a search on the internet and see what other vehicle pop's up. Many times etrailer.com has smok'n deals on new wheels & mounted tires. Just catch them when they offer free shipping.
actually Jeep CJs ( 70s-1986) had 5 on 5.5" pattern same as ford 1/2 ton 2wheel drive, dodges, suzuki samuris, sidekicks, IH scouts...
I have white spoked wheels on the axle now . Looking for something plain . Bolt patterns on the Jeep CJ and 1/2 ton trucks were the 5x5.5 at least back to the late 40 s . Checked etrailer . Only steel .
my google search shows LOTS of dodges from 1994 on up use 5x5.5 ? 1500 series? is google wrong? google shows Dakotas and Durangos having 5x5.5 too. and yes Suzuki Samuris are the same as CJs

Sorry, lol, I quit paying attention to Dodges back in the 80's, they had small, car-like 5 lug patterns, even on the 4x4's. I should have known, my yard is LITTERED with three Dodge PU's from my redneck son.
The bolt pattern is the same , but the center hub opening is larger on the Jeep. So a jeep wheel will fit the others , but a lot of the others will not go on a Jeep axle .
I have encountered that in the past as well. I used a plasma cutter to make center hole larger. a grinder would work too. the wheel is centered by the tapered nuts on the lug bolts, so its pretty easy to enlarge the center hole. it is a PITA though, steel wheels are thick.
Mine are for a Ford 4x4. Not sure if I can find the part number but I live close to Summit Racing and went in to pick them up and checked the hub opening.
The smallish trailers used by the Army and Marine corps to haul around tent heaters and small compressors and generators have large hub holes. Jeep wheels will fit and maybe the Suzuki Samurai wheels. Regular trailer wheels like you can find at home depot and the farm and ranch places will have to be modified. If you find some mags that have the proper bolt pattern a machine shop may be able to turn out the hub holes to make them fit.
