Well there are a few in the que will have to wait until a suitably stupid engine choice becomes available Nothing like a challenge
I had a 350 Four, and a lot of ragged ones come up for sale for cheap around here. I have foolish fantasies of a team of 350/400 Fours entering the Budapest-Bamako...
Well its time to drag the XR460/4 out into the light and get it ready for 2013 Scrapheap Adventure Ride!! To do list I need to helicoil number 4 spark plug back in the head. Fix the blinkers and fit a horn that works Look at the front brakes which are useless Also look at the headlight which was useless, after being caught in the dark I could only see the front guard, but only half way along it I only have 10 weeks to get it sorted :eek1
Pezz, That is a great sounding ride and cause. I love stuff that encourages some eclectic styles and different thinking. Way fun and a cool looking bike....Keep up the good work, I love it.
I do not know why it took me so long to realize it, but I just noticed that the fairing is a KTM rear fender with a hole cut in it for the light.... That is awesome///I did not read the entire thread so it may have been covered...but thats funny right there, I don't care who ya are.... I am always proud of so many in the Motorcycle community when I see them doing so much for charities and random acts of kindness for fellow riders... Keep up the good work everyone.
Thanks KellyMac350 It takes many twists & turns to build up a bike, and when you sort of finish, you think what to build next?? I have a problem with too many projects on the go at present. But I like the idea of a multi cylinder beast, maybe using a MV Augusta F4 as a powerplant. Or a 748 Ducati, just to push some people comfort zones DrJoe and I have even been talking outboard two strokes and CVT's :huh Nordie , there must be someone in UnZed who can weld?? Fabricate up your brackets and get them tacked/ welded in place.
I am the same way..I have 4 full project bikes going right now in various stages of build....or unbuild and a complete Banshee motor that I am dying to make a canyon killer out of. Maybe an aliminum dirt bike frame and suspension, but shortened stroke in the fork and shock, with Sumo 17" wheels and low bars....like the Super singles Formula 450 race bikes like these: http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/supersingle/supersingle.htm .....But with a BB/stroker Banshee motor in it....sounds fun to me I also have a 1965 Yamaha Ym1 305 2 stroke twin that is 50% done as a full cafe, or even more of a 1960s racer replica like a TD2 style. I have a BMW R80G/S that is waiting for a Gatson Rahier Dakar replica build on it. I have my R1100RT that is now 25% converted to a GS style with inverted KYB forks and a 21" front wheel. And lastly I have a 1980 something Honda Shadow VT 700 that I have started disassembly on that is going to be a full flat track style street trackker...I love me some bike projects....all of this on top of my 1949 Studebaker C-cab truck that is my daily driver...always something to do on that..like a motor rebuild right now, spun the number 1 rod bearing

Time for some more work on Yajuu I need to do something serious about the front brakes on this bike :huh Current front end is XR/XL 250 Disc brake set up. 38mm forks Honda XR-250R (84-85) Question is, what will fit on here Disc wise and calliper wise? I can fabricate an adapter bracket for a calliper if needed. Or what else runs 38mm forks, that would be suitable for a swap over? Looking at the thread below, not much on offer in 38's http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9182024&postcount=198
Disc is gonna be a bit trial and error. 4 bolt rotor, I think newer Kawasaki KXf bikes are 4 bolt. not sure if it is the same pattern and bolt centerline though. Caliper wise, about ANYTHING newer will work better but you will need to make an offset for the bigger rotor. The master cylinder may also be an issue though, getting the right MC bore and caliper piston size ratio is critical. Rotor diameter is probably the biggest issue, that thing is a tea cup saucer, you need a dinner plate.
this one indicates it will fit '84-'04, but the link to the bracket is iffy, re: fitment - likely the same rotor w/different caliper for later years? 270 mm rotor: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271017502421 bracket: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271019077275 320mm rotor bracket (rotor will fit, but not the bracket?): http://www.ebay.com/itm/320974991593 doug s.
Well I just went out, after having the heli-coil inserted to secure Number 4 spark plug, just gave it a kick in the guts <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8MZMih7is1s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Just fitted up an XR600 front calliper, brake ine and master cylinder. They bolted straight on. I now have front brakes that work
