Anyone in the Iowa City/Cedar rapids area riding dual sports? I found a few good trails/B-level roads around Iowa River and Amana Colonies I want to explore more, but not by myself - I'm on a F800GS and that sucker is heavy to lift out of the sand and mud!

    Hey Orangecicle,

I think we met at the GRGR in May...I remember checking out your clever job on the Pelicans - bicycle skewers, right?

Let me know if you're interested in riding my way...we can do the trail I've been too chicken to do by myself and a couple of nice dirt roads around the wetland reserve here.

    Redneck,

I am in Cedar Rapids, wouldn't mind going for a ride down that way.
    When are you thinking?

I'm in Amana. I've hit most of the level Bs around here on my Versys but would always be up for more.

That looks familiar to my last ride. I had 266 miles. Did you get down south of Eldon?

That route, just a mile on a detour east of Albia between there and Ottumwa.
I had my wife pillion and she doesn't like the loose feeling on gravel so we avoid it when she is passenger.

But I do want to do River Rd on the south side of the DSM River heading SE out of Ottumwa. All gravel and follows the curves of the river.

Make sure you stop at Garrison Rock and hike the .5 back to Horse Thief Cave.

I did a little work in the back yard yesterday
Made my 23 year old double safer.
That thing about killed me 6 years ago.

Dang! Went right past there one day on the way to Bonaparte. Bonaparte was a bust, so I went to visit an old friend in Fort Madison before going home. I did get past Eldon on the way home, though. You gotta go there. One day I want to dress up in overalls and my helmet and take a shot with my KTM in front of this:
