Coma usually shows up around the fire between 9 and 11 pm. He's all boisterous and foul mouthed one minute, and then . . . is he okay?

    Day Two route summary

Starts off with some slab to an easy hydro line. Some gravel roads, etc. Then it ulutilizes a road called North Penicl Lake. This was a tech option in 2011, I think maybe only one group made it to it ?

There is a water crossing that isn't "doable". A fun go around up and over the rock on the right of this photo...

    The go around....

Its a bit narrow so carrying panniers is not a bad idea :deal

We'll be doing it in the reverse direction...so you'll be riding up this..

    And popping out of here...

One good reason to have "teams" this year...as I suspect more than one bike has a tip over in this section

Lots of fun stuff on this road. Its about 20 km's long and will take some folks about 2-3 hours is my guess (fast guys about 60 minutes)

This is followed by 20 minutes of dirt roads to camp. Day two will be a quick 4-6 hours for fast guys but 6-9 hours of riding for slow groups (best guess).

Is it freaking June yet ?

    :freaky

Wow - day two sounds great!

Now there is absolutely no question what bike to take (WR 250r vrs 2011klr).

I think we ran pencil lake on the 2010 PD ( I bottomed out numerous times on a dr650) and again in 2012 Dacre challenge - which the wr250r was great/fine. I couldn't imagine a fully loaded klr running that route without some get offs/help (at least with my ability).

That was a fantastic day, hard to believe it was just two weeks ago.

BTW, I updated the riders list in the second post so PM if anything needs to be changed.:1drink

Difference is The RR turf always looks like that up there and people are happy about it. Your water will go away and people have lots of reason not to be happy about it.

The rock sections look awesome. the tiny puddles look too dry for a KLR rider to be concerned about and what the H&!! do you mean to narrow for panniers? I'm bringing a bow saw

So, after riding some Jeep trails the other weekend, I came to the realization that a BMW R1200GSA ain't no trail bike.

Here is OhBoy getting up one trail...

So, I've made a change in the stable. The bike arrived at MAX BMW today. I'll pick it up on Saturday. :evil

My R1200GSA is getting traded for a sparklie new F800GS. It should be a lot more appropriate for the riding we like to do most.

Very pretty! When the F800GS was released, I wasted no time trading in my R1150GS on it. Same HP, 100 pounds less weight.

Is that the original centrestand? Mine is quite different from that.
