...actually, wife's 328 has had more electronic and part replaced that would put a FIAT to shame.

Ok then Professor Dickweed (kidding).... why'd you ditch the superior car then?? just for a few MPG more??

Not trying to be a jerk.. but I'd love a 3 or 5 series at some point...

You'd probably like the GTD then.

...you know... the one the US can't have?!

I had a 04 jeep wrangler for 8 years prior to my gti. I felt like I was sitting in a luxury vehicle. Power window and locks? heated seats? blue tooth? Felt like I struck it rich :lol3

I have a 2010 with 40K+ miles. At -20 degrees F the engine never reaches operating temperature (I probably should block off the radiator when it gets that cold) but other than that, it's a keeper!

My Accord was an EX so the top of the line 4 cyl from 1997 which means it had a sunroof :lol3 this Passat really does feel like a luxury car next to that and honestly a lot of the standard features were reserved for those top of the line cars just 5 years ago. The only thing I'm missing is a sunroof but for the price I paid I've got no problem with that.

Mileage drops when it's that cold too. Hoping for some "global warming effect".

I had pretty much the same experience: below ~10* it really struggles to keep the temp guage 'in the middle' where it should be except when driving at highway speed 70+mph.. so if you are cruising on side roads at 50 mph in 5th gear it drops right off.. still makes warm air, but the guage just reads low...

I was wondering if there was a jacket for the front grill.... I haven't seen one around here and it may not even matter.. it certainly hasn't been an issue.. If it is really cold, I usually just leave it in 4th til it is up to temp if I am on 50mph roads.. engine warms right up in about 5-10 minutes if it is above 2000RPMs... below that I think you could drive it all day and it would never warm up...

As previously noted.. I drive like an old man most of the time...so it probably mostly me...

The Lebanon, NH that I live in didn't stay at -20 for very long, and my wife's TDI definitely got up to operating temperature. :lol3

Edit- you must live in North Lebanon, NH.

    2010 Sportwagen, 67,xxx miles.

Love it. Early on I used to try to get great mileage then I just started having fun. I track every tank and my average mpg for the first 50,000 miles was 37.5.

Pet peeves are the door locks (sometimes they work, sometimes they don't) and the fact that we can't get the hitch / wiring package available in Europe.

As others have said you need to put on the miles for the diesel to pay off.

For what you pay it is one of the best highway cars you can buy.

I got the kit, installed the box on the drivers side & ran the hot wire across to the passenger side with a plug on it so I can plug it in to the 12V aux plug back there. A lot simpler than going forward to the dash.
Just plug it in when I need trailer lights.

The HPFP failures are a very a fraction if a percentage of failures.. When it happens to you it hurts.

Have 3 of them all OK so far.

The TDIclub dot com has a lot of info for you.

There is computer programming that goes along with the Euro wiring. Done properly, the ABS knows when you have a trailer attached and changes its programming to accommodate the unusual loading.
