No problems so far on my set and its been well n truly used. Heres hoping it continues that way for a fair bit longer cos ive heard the aftermarket support from GPR is crap Oh - Im running an akra on mine instead of the OEM can
Thanks Pete. I now have confidence. Love your tanks! I can't understand why so many go safari and not aim towards a rally setup.
pete did your akra touch the swimarm? im yust buy a bmw 1200 akra to put in the gpr system, but the silencer is wider thasn thr gpr and touch the swimarm. i have to weld both header in my gpr, in the first weld of bouth, it a different material than the rest pf thr header.
Year 3, plenty of miles and no issues, My swing arm is just 2 mm away from the pipe for the rear exhaust "Y" connection. Never did hit, its close but a non-issue.
O.K. I found a GPR system but it did not come with mounting instructions. How hard can it be? It is just some headers and a can... Well I easily mounted up the system but am absolutely stumped with the pipe hanger/support off of the passenger peg. Can somebody pretty plead show some pictures of this or explain it so I can move forward. I have searched every pic I can find on the net to no avail. thanks in advance.
Did you get the metal bracket that mounts under the pillion pegs? There is a gap between the bracket (when mounted) and the Y header pipe. Use one of the OEM mounting knuckles from the system you removed and you should have it sewn up in no time.. Sorry - I didnt take any pics when I did mine.
I just saw this thread under a search. my GPR exhaust on the mana failed after just 3 months use! Its part of the 2 into 1 part. The end cap literally came off the 'collector box' Its a bad design for air flow too!! Had to get it welded, as i've been waiting weeks for a replacement.
What an ugly piece of shit this pipe!!!:eek1:eek1:eek1 it's not an exhaust, just some metal x-mas tree
Not bashing anyone , but I have had my GPR 2-1 on for 5 years now , no issues what so ever , I understood that this 2-1 system brought the exhaust closer to damage and is more prone to this if proper protection isn't supplied . A good bash plate helps keep the stones away . As far a quality , I can only go off of my system , and it looks well made , the welds are clean and fitment is precise . As for GPR covering warranty issue (so its put ) I can't blame them for a lack of support, I know how people tend to abuse something and then blame it on craftsmanship . Just saying . Be honest and forthright.
I bought my bike last year and the lad I bought it from had just fitted a brand new Gpr 2 into 1 system. I loved the look of the bike because of it and it sounded amazing. It has the none carbon tip on the end can and came with a carbon fibre kick plate. Well. The carbon fibre kick plate cracked at both mounting points and fell off. I contacted GPR, they said they didn't hold them in stock. Asked if they could make one even out of metal never heard anything back. Then the powder coat on the exchaust tip flaked off. Then the front header pipe split two months ago on the factory weld. Again I spoke to Gpr dealer and he said email pictures so I did. Heard nothing back. Ended up getting it welded myself. Now today the rear header pipe has split on the factory weld. Looks great, sounds good but very poor quality.
Thats an epic weld fail. I believe they are machine welded and there would no doubt have to be an issue with the machine/penetration for that to occur. Its a pity that there seems to be so many issues with this product from GPR. A little more design tuning and picking up on the quality control would see these quality issues gone. For the record I no longer have the 2-1 system but it was intact when it left my possession.
Hey Pete, What the heck are you running? I run your tanks with the GPR but with an Akra and have always loved the setup. Just curious to know what direction you have headed in.
SSO from the guys at rottweiler. I'll be reworking the RHS tank obviously but have to say the build materials, weld quality and customer service are second to none. Add that to the intake and the performance difference is astounding!!! http://www.rottweilerperformance.com/ExhaustSystems.html I've also shaved a heap of weight off if the front end. ... Almost there
