What is the load index? It will be a 2 digit number, probably in the high 40s to low 50s, followed by the letter Q.

Front says 59Q. Rear is 69Q. Whats that mean?

59 load index is 536lbs
69 load index is 716lbs

The Q is the speed rating, 99mph same as TKC80

Thats interesting. I normally run "street pressurse" on my DL650 at 39F/42R on other tires. I guess we'll have to see how those tires do at the lower pressures or experiment with some others? Wonder why they are sol low?

just bought some myself. I have gone through avon distanzias and maxxis presa detours, both wore out around 4k (rear). If I get more than 4000 miles out of these tires - I will be a happy camper!

The max load and speed rating of a tire is at its maximum pressure. The load rating for the 705 is the same as Tourance, Pirelli, etc. (59/69 front/rear) So you can look at it the other way too. That the 705 requires less pressure for the same load rating.

Sure. Though it can't be a low pressure if the DOT certified the load rating. The certification of the load rating is based on tire temperature rise at that load and pressure.

Or, perhaps the factory plugged in the 33psi 'mold insert' instead of the 42psi insert (certainly a guess).

The 705 might be a bias ply tire. I'm pretty sure the TKC80 is a bias ply tire. Can someone check their TKC80 rear for load rating and max pressure?

715 #'s @ 35 psi for the 150/70-17 TKC.

My Shinko 705's came in yesterday like planned. Unfortunately, I'm leaving this evening on a TAT trip on my KLR and I won't be installing these till I get back on June 1st. I will have a full review in a couple weeks though plus a 6k mile trip at the end of June. BTW, I've got 80k+ between 3 vstroms, so I should be able to give a decent review on how these compare to many other tires I've ran over the years, especially the Anakee and Tourance tires.

Chaparrel has them on their site now too, $42 for a front and $56 for a rear. At those prices I might just order a set for future use.

Chaparral offers free shipping on $149 and over (But not sure if that includes tires or not? I haven't ordered from them before). If you order 2 rears and 1 front, it puts you just over that limit!

Front - $41.85
Rear - $53.85
41.85 + 53.85 + 53.85 = $149.55! $30 cheaper then I got my tires for!

Thats just ridiculously cheap. I hope they end up being nice tires.

Someone needs to send MSS an email letting them know how much cheaper CHap has them or they may price match.

Dualsport Plus in Ontario has informed me the Shinko 705s will be available in Canada in 3 weeks.

They offer free shipping over $100... free second day air over $150... my order just came to $95.7 for the set... had to get some new valves just to bump it over $100 for free shipping.

NOTE: Fronts are listed as not avail until 5/26, FYI. A spare set in the garage for $100 may just be good insurance...

i've been happy with korean made tires for my car.
nowadays the koreans produce as good as quality as japanese, but for less $.

now let's hear some reports & tire mileage.

I should have bought them from Chapparal (much cheaper!) but instead I got them from Motorcycle Superstore. Regardless, the tires are still much cheaper than all the other brands I have purchased over the years.
