My first rifle at 15 was a Winchester Model 69 I bought at a yard sale for $45. I still have it, and will pass t down to my son. Since then, I've added a Savage Sportster, a 10/22, a MKII Target pistol, a New England Youth Combo (.22 and 410), and had a Single Six come and go. I love plinking!
The Ruger Single-Six I inherited from my father, who bought it new from Roos Atkins in San Francisco in 1958. A real fun shooter, it's easy to swallow half a brick in a single morning.
Anyone using the .22 conversion on a Sig 226 or 220? Seems like a good way to practice and keep the same grip, trigger, etc. but haven't heard any reports on reliability.
This has been discussed thoroughly on Sigforum. The software for their forum is a bit dated, but the information and discussion is quite good. I decided to forgo the kit, and leave my 226 in 9mm.
I deleted the picture I had on photobucket of my Marlin 883SS the sharpest shotting rim fire I have ever owned. I'd be taking deer with it if it wasn't illegal.
Let me refer you back to the "chop off a nut" part I mentioned. I'm sure I could find one up there at a decent price. Then comes the necessary fedex overnight to my MA FFL, then comes the FFL's transfer fee (which keeps going up in this boom) which brings me back to the same inflated price I can buy one here in the Peoples' Republik of Mass. I just looked at a MK II512 that a guy wants $400 for. Friggen nuts. :huh
Better get in here on the rimfire thing. Winchester Model 69A Remington M541-T Anschutz Model 54MS Cooey Model 600 CZ 452 Classic and a Chipmunk that my son says I can never sell. Contender with .30 Herett(sp) barrel and a .22barrel along with a Smith Model 41. There is a few more kicking around the estate somewhere but I am too lazy to go look for them right now. Interestingly on the bench, the model 600 Cooey can outperform all of them including the Anschutz. Go figure eh! By the way none of these have a "gloss" finish to them. I just don't like shiny stocks. Just wiped them down with some oil for the pics.
My Colt Combat Comander with the Kimber .22 conversion barrel. I have shot 1000's of rounds through it and have never had it jam. I love this thing. I have a Buckmark also but shoot this one way more. I guess I just like the feel of the 1911 better. [/IMG]
