Friday as soon as we began operations we had a little mishap at Houma. Seems somebody wasn't following the painted lines and drove our old blue Ford tractor, which has a high roll hoop, under an S-76 and jammed it under a blade. They had to package up the aircraft and haul it to Lafayette on a flat bed. That is going to be one heck of a costly screw up. Blade is no good, that is a 100k or so and somme of the parts, if not the whole head will probably be shot.

ok guys...need me some help, with some design ideas and a solution to fix my floor jack..seems the gear bolt (#6 in diagram) has rounded off and the handle (#3 in diagram) will not engage the bolt to turn the gear to open or close the hydraulic. To top it off, the gear bolt part is NO LONGER AVAILABLE! :becca

So, my idea is to cut a groove thru the top of the bolt head and then to weld in the handle a "key" or a piece of rod that would fit into the grove of the bolt..anyone got a better idea? Also, will need someone to weld for me..

Sorry Doc, I've got nothing on your jack. btw, I didn't want to inflict the pain of "Gus and Magoo Speed" on you or anyone else....'cept Charlie, who I thought could use the slo-motion-therapy. We probably drove him nuts, but it was relaxing :norton. If you want a slow ride, I'll holler next time.

And....Happy B-Day to "the other" Tim!

Arrgg what a day. Was planning to leave this morning and head to CO. Mike T left a day early and trailered out with a few others, RJ and Kris were riding out with me today. RJ got hurt and cant make it, Kris has mechanical issues and cancelled last night. Now it's gonna be 100+ for the ride out today. I'm sitting here debating to hop on and head out or just go back to bed. You ever have one of those rides where everything just feels against it?

If you don't start the ride Ted, nobody else will start it for you. Just go, you'll have a blast.

Agreed. No matter what happens in CO, you'll be able to send back temperature reports to us baking suckers back here!!

It's not even supposed to hit 100 in Kansas either!!

I never had time to find out who did it or see the pictures. It was probably one of the third party guys that do ground support, surely it wasn't one of our mechanics. They might tell the contractor we don't want that guy here anymore, but usually they don't run people off for mistakes. Deliberate violations of procedure or wreckless behavior though, and you are gone. I bet that guy follows the painted lines from now on if he does still have a job.

As I was typing that I just realized that last night I dreamt I was trying to start the aircraft and I couldn't, then realized the blades were still tied down. Glad that was just a dream. Has happened twice since I have been there, neither were fired. I have jumped in the seat in a rush and realized they were still tied, but never tried to start it. I am pretty paranoid about that, it is the first step on the checklist after all.
