Should Lane Splitting be legal in all 50 States

I'm still trying to figure out how lane splitting would benefit me in Wyoming. Maybe on the odd occurance of getting stuck behind the 1 car at a light, I could move in front of him?

True. I wouldn't recommend wearing a BYU jersey while splitting though.

You *may* get away with a Buffs or Rams jersey. ...but I wouldn't do that either

Hey, despite what It'sNotTheBike claims in the other thread,

I did not insist on filtering, nor do I feel entitled. Nor do I lanesplit, because these suburbanites here consider it "line jumping", and line jumping would piss anybody off.

I don't feel entitled to lane filter nor do I feel entitled to lane split ... but it sure is fun

That is because cattle outnumber people by something like three to one out there.

For real, the entire damn state is like a National Park with a couple gas stations and a couple little towns here and there.

I voted NO, but not because it's dangerous. I voted NO because I don't want someone else squeezing into my lane uninvited, so it's not right for me to do it to them.

You need to go spend some time riding in CA before you comment like that.

Once you've spent some time riding up the 805 at o-dark-thirty in gridlocked traffic you may think differently. I know it changed my perceptions.

No I don't, the question was not about CA specifically, besides that, I don't want cars coming into my lane. I'm pretty sure most riders here would agree that a four wheeler has no business sharing with a bike, why is it ok the other way around? I don't think it is.

And I have riden in CA, I was stationed there for four years and I rode there and I don't think differently.
If cars started splitting, I bet a few riders would change their minds.

That’s hardly a solid argument against filtering traffic. Each stationary bike will take approximately 8ft of space “fenders to bumpers”. If you have 100 motorcycles stuck in traffic behind cars you basically have 100 more cars on the road. If those 100 bikes can filter you have just removed quite a bit of traffic.

There is a big difference between “lane splitting” and “filtering”. There is no reason to ride between two cars on the white line at 65mph. There are 1,000 reasons why bikes should squeeze through bumper to bumper traffic.
