Put your thumb where it counts - there are a couple posts on the Yami page - support the Little Ten - http://www.facebook.com/yamahamotorusa#!/yamahamotorusa Scott Jones, Carl S Manning, James Wise, Hans van Langen, Riley Reynolds, Mike Anderson, <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
It might force Kawasaki to update the KLR with their Versys motor and 6-speeds . . . but probably not.
Noticed how Total Motorcycle just updated their site & has another place holding for a another DS to be announced??? TM only does then when a mfg. confirms there will be something else...no speculation. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2013models/2013-Yamaha.htm http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modeloverview/cat/2013/58/model_overview.aspx This has to be a WR450R type-bike or the 660 as the Super Tenere has it's own ADV category & the 3 existing DS bikes are well known.
eventually Kawi will do something but not this next year http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2013models/2013-Kawasaki-KLR650.htm
Has this changed at all or is it still the same with just no 660 showing and only the XT 250 being the new bike? http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2013models/2013-Yamaha.htm
yamaha canada and yamaha US have all the new 2013 bikes posted and NO 660 tenere on the sites mybe 2014 then.
yep it was a bust, but not everything is there. no FJR shown and many expect a new one this year, so maybe yamaha is doing special intros. not holding my breath however and at this point starting to give up on Yamaha. this is now the 5th model year and they still don't get it. travelers with 660s have tried several time to go to Yamaha hdqs in cali. and have been turned away. vote with your dollars and buy another mfg 650. i'm like that new Husky TR650 Terra. 650 rotax FI w/ quality suspension. gas tank a little small but mpg are suppose to be awesome to counteract that. soon enough suzuki will update the dr650 as will kawi and the klr650, so if Yamaha does not want to support the 650 dual-sport market in the US then we'll buy 650s from their competition and. simple enough.
Im with Eakins - I'm looking at the Huski TR650 Terra when it comes out in the next month or so - checks all my boxes and is only $7000 - a bargain compared to the XT660z that never was ooohhh they missed out big time the big part that gets me is the "no response" from Yamaha :ddog <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I'm with eakins on the Husky. IMO if Yam would have done it a few years ago, but I think Husky is going to steal the show now. Little too late.....
Photos like this just kill me :dogohhhh Yamaha you are so wrong !!!! :dog the little Ten would be great in the US. (from the "Yamaha XT 660 Z Tenere" FB page)
fast forward with that...all bets are off again as the fate of the TR650 is up in the air with new ownership. sales are good for the bike but a big chunk of guys are scared to buy an orphan bike. the KTM sale killed off the momentum. i'm sure KTM has future 650 plans for Husky however but it might not be what we see today. i'd say the sale set the updated 650 market backwards.
Not to piss on your parade but the XT660R is the one you want. I've ridden both the XT660R and the Tenere and I vastly prefer the XT660R. In my opinion the Tenere is too heavy and underpowered for it's size, and that wind screen gives you horrible turbulence. With the XT660R you get lower weight, lower seat height, better fuel-economy, more horsepower, lower price and no wind screen to cause turbulence - my choice! It's a very nice extremely forgiving basic motorcycle that almost anyone can get on and "just ride". It's a bit on the heavy side for off-road but for gravel road touring and light off-road use it's great.
