    :nod Looks really good.

My $.02 on the three pop up choices would be look for (A) Quality and (B) ease of set up/take down. As someone just said to Ken about his Mega trailer. "Think bad weather."-- for both set up and take down.

The front deck of the Evolution E1 is rated for 200lbs (chipboard wood deck), but the bikes wheels are directly over the frame rails and tongue weight is not an issue with a light bike like the KTM. I am looking at replacing the deck with 3/4"-1" actual plywood and not worry about the present decks flexing. With the wheels directly over the frame rails it's fine.
You probably want to look at a Fleetwood Evolution E2 or E3 because they have a bigger deck area for more weight and more bikes.

Mine will. At 6'2", I can even sleep on the dinette bed. The sofa pulls out to be a bed too. 1800# or so.

Lots of them have beds inside of the pullout beds too, but you have the hassle of climbing over people/beds.

Love it... which Pass is that? I feel like I have a motorcycle picture close to that spot.

I have seen converted covered trailer to a camper that did. it had 2 cots on the floor and two bunks that folded out from the wall. I will see if i can find it again in the camper forums i frequent. If you are the least bit handy many guys have coverted normal enclosed trailers to some pretty nice camping rigs on the cheap. They tend not to be too light however.

I like to make something like this, small enough to tow behind a motorcycle

Okay, so I want a fully enclosed trailer that has four single bunks, full bathroom, and can haul a couple motorcycles inside. That's the easy part. The harder part is I want it under 3000 pounds empty.

Is there anything made now that satisfies that?

If not, it looks like I can make it happen with an old highly customized Airstream in the 20-24 foot range. Making it so I can get the bikes in and out is the harder part, but I'm not scared of buying a project and gutting it and doing it all. In fact, I like that idea because I do like the aerodynamics do the Airstream. If it was easier to make the bikes able to load then I'd be going that direction anyway...I haven't found the right one yet, but I do feel like I can get a shell for under $3k. Lots of time and some money required on top of that, though, so if there's something out there already with easy loading and makes weight...

    MUST be enclosed, though.

Back in 1977 we were at the Sebring 12 hour race weekend and they had a vintage race on Friday too. There was a guy there with a Porsche 906 that he transported in an old Airstream trailer. He had kept some living quarters in the front section of the trailer but he turned the back half of the trailer into a garage. he had cut the rear end of the trailer so it hinged up like the front end of a C-5 Galaxy and had some ramps where he could roll the car up into the trailer. It was a really cool setup. Here's a candidate: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/rvs/3294471576.html

$2300.00 bucks for that POS????? It's shot!!

We're gonna take a basic enclosed cargo trailer, put a swing down queen size bed in it (with a 'real' mattress on it), and build a small permanent bathroom w/ shower up in the nose of it.
Tilt the bed up, and shove yer bikes right in!! :clap

    rather like this...

I'm gonna build a triangle shaped gear box over the tongue too, to hold the propane bottles, jerry cans, etc...but it will also help with aerodynamics! :evil

That's what I'd do if I were you Djb_rh...except I'd ues a bigger box trailer, and put more swing down beds in it.

Yeah, you can find MUCH better deals than that one. Something that actually looks like it just needs to be cleaned on the outside for about that same money. This thing looks like it needs, well, new skin or something.

Well, then I need add to my requirements...I really want something in the 22 foot range so that with the bikes out it still has a bit of available living room space. Basically I want to be able to unload the cargo area and then have room for four kids to live in there for a few days...we'd use bean bag chairs and a flat TV on the wall to entertain in the meager time they'd have to be inside.

I get what you're after, and it'll be great, but I need something with a little more volume inside. Based on this:

    http://www.airstreamguy.com/lengthswidths_and_weights

I think 24' is the outside of my weight range. I'd gut it and only be putting back less than 2/3 of the "stuff" these would normally have inside, so I think I'd be losing weight, but probably not a ton. But 4' of the length for a rear bathroom, 7' of length for bunks, then about half the interior would be "open" for stuff. Could stash a dorm fridge and a little storage above it and still have plenty of room for two motorcycles, I think. And some other stuff.

Using a standard steel frame cargo trailer like the above, I really think I'd be limited to 16' or so, which just isn't enough. It will be a LOT easier to build out something like that, but I actually think getting some of the Airstream issues worked out will be fun. And maybe deep down I want an excuse to buy a Shopbot. *cough*

Sounds like you might want a Livin Lite VRV without the tip out bunks. You could add single bunks to suit. They are aluminum and light enough to fit your needs. :deal

Yeah, the Livin Lite ones are the one option I've found. Found those by making it back about 15 pages in this thread after I posted my query. There is a dealer not too far away, so I'm going to check them out.

The 18x8.5 seems the closest at 3200 pounds empty, but maybe I can custom order one that's a little more optimal. Price looks a bit steep, but build quality does look very good, so we will see. Thanks!
