    just a thought here :
my pressure washer gas powered Honda motor was the same thing
it would run for a few minutes then die just like the kill switch was hit
    --------------------
after pulling carb apart and fuel pump -- nothing
the strange part was you could give it one pull and it would start up
    -------------------------------
changed spark plug and it has been perfect for 3 years now
the old plug looked clean - must have been grounding out when warm ?
    -------------------------
a friend had similar thing with his generator
    ----------------------------------------------------------
wort a try - plug is cheap !!

I had same problem and solution with a lawn mower(honda) and a new dr650. New plugs fixed problem. DR only had about 1k miles with factory plugs. It would stutter when going down road and die sometimes at stop signs. Emptied tank of fuel and float bowl checking for water in gas. Still did it after cleaning. Put new ngk plugs in it and it ran perfect. The ND plugs i took out looked fine but they must have been bad.

Also change the spark plug cap - I had a similar thing after about 10,000 miles on my 06 400 exc and it was the plug cap, it looked fine, but must have been tracking to ground.

Anyone have any advice for installing silicone coolant hoses? Fought with the water pump end for a while then took it off to get the hose on it. I dont see any way i can get the hose on the tube going thru frame to top of radiators.

    Update on the dash unit.

So apparently none of the other things will come up after the computer resets itself. So if you dig into the manual and follow the procedure you can turn on the other items in the dash unit like trip meters and such. Hope that this help someone if need be.

I just installed the Highway Dirt Bikes top clamp and handguards. I got the switch relocator for the key, but it doesn't tighten down inside the new mount. Anybody else had this issue? Also the bikes previous owner cut down the bars a little too short so the handguards don't fit so I'm looking for some stock bars so they'll fit. I love the new look of the top clamp and the computer relocate!

Hi All - I bought a used 2011 530XCW Six Days a couple of months ago, and it doesn't seem to be as powerful as I was expecting. It has a little over 120 hours on it. It might be me, but I'd like to check the compression on the bike. I can't find any reference to what it should be ? I see it mentioned as a test, but no value range given. Nothing in the maintenance manual for it either apart from a ratio.

When you say it wont tighten down, is the hole too small? I bought the same type mount for mine but it was for powerlet socket and it was slightly undersize. Sanded out with dremel and it fit fine.

The hole for the key is the right size, it is just too thin of material like there needs to be a spacer in between the stock spacer and the collar on the top.

So you can snap the key off in the first ten minutes of riding and never have to think about it again. I have never turned my key off. I'm more afraid of someone stealing my key and immobilizing my it than stealing the entire bike :lol3

I look at that neato alu speedo mount and key relocater, and I see another thing to get jabbed with in one of my awkward unplanned dismounts.
Anything sticking out the backside of the handlebar area could be bad for body parts.

A friend did have his entire 2012 500EXCR stolen,he had removed the key switch and did the jumper wire thing,it was only about 3 grand out of pocket for a 2013 500 by the time ins covered it. He had it parked behind his house with 0 precautionary measures.
Not a month before he had assured me his upscale neighborhood never had problems.

They run like a puffball till the stock muffler is either opened up or tossed for a muffler that flows, then the EPA jetting must be fixed . Once this is done 4th gear wheelies are a snap. The gearing of course must be changed out to 14/50 or there abouts.
(oops, yours is an XCW I see, should be fast out of the box)

Found a potential bike. What do you guys think??? What were the problems with the 2008 models?? What do I need to look out for? Here are the details....

2008 KTM 530 EXCR... Steet legal....The bike has about 2200 miles on it... Maybe around 95 hours.. It has some excellent upgrades.. Good condition.

Suspension has been professionally revalved for trail riding.... only a few rides on it since the revalve... have original springs...

There is a HT oil cooler installed professionally

    Upgraded stator
14 / 50 gearing and new chain.... perfect trail riding set up...
2 gas tanks.. one stock and one 3.1 dessert tank
    tires are in good condition..
Asking $5600....he said he is going to drop the price some

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
