I'm out this year for Sandblast but will keep it on the schedule for 2014.

Can't complain though as my race bike is on its way to Tunisia and the Tuareg Rally in March.

I'll report back with a detailed comparison between the sands of North Africa and that of the Carolina Sandhills. Seriously, although I'm excited about the opportunity to participate in a rally abroad, I'll miss the camaraderie and fun that is the Sandblast Rally (especially the "Rat" pack). For those on the fence, I urge you to jump in and enjoy the experience. You won't regret it.

Best of luck in Tunisia. I was all prepared to go (even had sent a deposit to RMS for support) but then a crash a BRS changed my plans. Will be eager to hear stories from you and the others racing the Tuareg this year!

My plan is to camp.

This years event being a little later in the spring might make for much nicer camping weather. The last couple of years were a little bit miserable in the rain. and 40 degree temps. The ride into town in the morning is tough when its a miserable day. Hopefully you guys will have a nice warm sunny day this year.

At this point I am not planning on racing. looking at a house and picked up a rally car so might be an interesting year.

Last year (the only year I have done Sandblast) was fairly nice.... of course I was sleeping in my van and had an electric heater plugged in (campsite has electrical hookups).

Yes it was very nice in the hotel room I stayed in.

Wait.... you bought a rally car and that is preventing you from racing? So the car is just to look cool and pick up chicks?

It is still on the West coast and wouldn't be here in time for Sandblast. Plus I need to go all through it and do some finishing work. I was originally just going to buy the gearbox out of it but then the owner offered the whole car for a competitive price. so i ended up with a bit more. I would like to have it ready for the new Tarmac event this spring but that might be a stretch too.

You should camp with all the cool kids. We stayed in a hotel last year and the year before but that's because the weather has been crap for camping in the past...and cold.

According to Google maps, 14 miles. The Campground is called H Cooper Black.
