I'm still lurking around, wishing I had the inseam for a 990 :/
I just have to pop in and say 'Thank You" for another awesome "Wan RR" BW has done a wonderful job with the always excellent support of LW !! As always, very entertaining/informative and pissing me off that I can't be out there doing such things!! Ha! Carry on!!

I heard a rumor, Is Rancho Santa Ynes campground, restaurant, and/or motel still open. I don't want to stay in the motel, but the camping and food was good the last time I was there.

This is just an awesome way to report a great Baja Run. The maps, the pictures, the time consuming videos and the riders on the big twins tearing up the desert is wonderful entertainment:clap:clap:clap

Thanks for sharing the very detailed report:lurk

    Thanks CB160,
Don't let a little thing like touching the ground stop you. Try riding a standard 990, you might be surprised.:D

Smoke and mirrors. We touch the ground with all kinds of body parts. :lol3

    Hi Salsa,
I'm afraid I can't give you any current info. We didn't go to Mission Santa Maria this year, so, we did not notice if Rancho Santa Ynes was open. Sorry.

    Thanks Throttlemeister,
I spent the morning reading about your incredible adventures. I could really only skim it in 1 morning, but WOW! :clap:freaky
Congrats on getting the plate and screws out.

    Day 12 continued

We had some faster sections like this one where I got my second flat of the trip.

You might be wondering what Bartek is up to while weÂ’re out here.
Well, he found the Old Mill.

I bet he really worked up an appetite taking all those nice pictures.
    Ahh, that should help.

Lica hurt his shoulder yesterday, while testing in the dunes. There was no way he was going to miss out on the single track today, but I think it made his day really tough.

There was a lot of cactus to miss, or hit.

It sure sounded like that one hurt in the video. :eek7

In true OSO LOC form, the bear should be standing on one foot, er, paw,,,with the other rear paw stretched out to the rear......

    Show more teeth too....with attitude.:evil:evil

So that's what I have been missing in Baja.....:wink::wink:

    :D:DThanks for the RR guys...and gal. :D:D

Are you guys all running stearing stabalizers? I'm assuming so, worth tne money? I'm thinking about adding one before next months trip so I can keep up with KTMNATE! I have never had a bike with one but I'm thinking it might be an asset on the big girl. Will it help tame the beast in the sand?

Hi advrockrider. Yes we all have stabilizers on our bike and I love it but in the sand will help you a lot .....if you go fast enough, if you go to slow it'll just help you fighting the bike for a little while longer

This day was the hardest day of the trip for me...took some drugs to deal with the pain and they worked but I was way to hot on that single track.....just couldn't get in the grove.

Yes it was very hot. I sure liked some of the little loose hill climbs. That trail would have been great with a little rain.:lol3

For me the Scotts was something I never could afford. On my 500EXC, I ran it without and with and I have to say, it really improved its performance on packed wash boarded gravel roads. Being a trail bike at heart, its geometry is not optimized for road riding but instead for tight turns. I know mine has saved my bacon in sand, silt, bouncing off of rocks and while sliding into ruts parallel to my path numerous times. My arms seem to be less fatigued after a long day of riding trails or 2 track. It is one of those really expensive investments like suspension tuning that make a huge difference in the handling of the bike and is a great upgrade that requires some saving to acquire. It has to really be helpful on those huge KTM twins!

Great report BigWan and LittleWan! You Osos are rockstars taking those huge machines out into the tight and gnarly. Hasn't anyone told you that those are streetbikes?? :lol3 I am really digging these Baja reports. Those cacti do not look like too much fun tho! :eek1

    Aw, thanks you guys!
    and DiggerD, CB160, MasterMarine...

I singled those guys out, but so many of you have been super cheerleaders! :rayof
    Thank you!
It's great having the support and enthusiasm...telling a good story is grueling.
it meant a lot to me during my reports and I know it's helping Matt get through this one.
You readers are the best! :D

    Yahhhh! Osoooooo! :clap

by "drugs," he means over-the-counter Alleve. Oso Tough. :gdog

    Poor Lica.
You got impaled by so many cactuses that day. I could barely watch the video. :arg

it was like you got into a fight with a porcupine. :cry

This is the last rocky canyon of single track.

I found Ceasar taking an unscheduled break.

    Almost to the top.

The terrain starts to open up as we near the coast.

    Almost to Punta San Carlos.

Lica and I goofing off, waiting for Ceasar. :D

It's been awhile, we better go back and find Ceasar.

Apparently this hole jumped out in front of him, and there was no way to avoid it. :lol3

He jammed his thumb, but otherwise no problem.:eekers

We are headed to PSC for beer and water.

Nooope! they're only open seasonally, and this ain't the season. :dunno
The caretaker was a nice guy though, and gave us some water and a pat on the back. :lol3

That was a waste of time. All we have to do now is ride the 100 or so miles to San Quintin. Hooray! :freaky

You know what time it is. :eek7

    Let's check back with Bartek.

Bartek was hanging out in the bar with the mariachi band, dropping the only accordion player name he knows. Eddie Gonzales.
    Not bad, Bartek. :lol3

We just kept going and going.

    Until...

I'm getting sick and tired of these monkey fighting flats and these monday to friday tires! :dirtdog :flip

We finally made it to the pavement.

We met up with Bartek, he had secured a room and had already eaten dinner.
We were famished and would not be denied. :dukegirl :dutch

    This place was incredible. :clap:clap

    Lica tore into that torta.

I looked down, took a bite and a pic, and *bam* Lica's torta was gone! :eekers

    Tacos for dessert

It sure didn't take us long to turn our new lair into the Delta house. :lol3

Day 12 is in the books.

    Flat count:
    Ceasar: 5
    Lica: 5
    Bartek: 1
    Matt: 2

Taco count: in the 90's I know, it's shameful. :cry
