Here is my new to me `10 FE390, 170 hours, 5k kms: I've made an "aggressive map dongle", added FMF 4.1 can, the bike runs very nice. It is a funny bike, at first it feels like there is no great low end torque (coming from an XR426!), but it is very tractable down low and revs up in an instant. Love it, the engine, EFI, suspension, great package. I just did a valve check, was horrified for pulling the tank, but everything fits nice, no worries.
Nice bike Diravi! Could someone tell me what the wiring colors are for the front and rear turn signals using the KTM cev switch?
I'm horrible at reading wire schemetics. I don't understand how to read them. I guess that's why I'm an accountant. These wires are all behind my headlight. I have one plug out back under my seat with a KTM connector. It has Brown, purple and black. Since there is two connectors up front with Brown/Black and Purple/Black I'm assuming this is the turn signals. Now I'm trying to figure out what a black yellow wire is with a butt connector and which connector is for the horn.
Here is my sorry redneck setup, complete with coathanger wire and old radiator hose for cushioning. The filter goes in place of the quick connect. When pulling the tank, I leave the filter on the line, that way the sensitive injector side is never exposed to the dusty dirty cruel world. DJH sells the manual cam chain tensioner. I put these on all my dirt bikes. Don't even really know of KTM has an issue with this, but so many brands do have CCT issues that it is a reflex action at this point. Not much to go wrong with a screw and locknut. Set it properly, keep clean oil in it and forget about it :) Bonus 'Berg photo. The weep hole on the water pump faces forward. Over time fine grit can get in and work on the seal. "DaleEO" over on the Unofficial Husaberg Forum came up with this mod - adding a nipple and hose to the weep hole. I did mine in 'Berg blue! Got the tiny tubing at an RC supply store.
I agree the manual CCT is the cats pajamas. My cam chain must be worn more than yours because it is adjusted correctly.. -jb Posted with TapaTalk on i5
Ok guys, what fan kit are you installing to help with over heating? I did some tougher single track today and over heating was definately an issue.
Part # 81235941044 http://www.surdykeyamaha.com/pages/Catalog/Product/209672 $112. Not sure if there is a better price but this one is the best I have found so far.
Added the KTM fan kit and still was not entirely happy as the KTM thermo switch does not kick in until it is around 220F coming off the head. (I have a Trail Tech Temp gauge). I think this is a hangover from the older RFS bikes, which have little stator output and drain the battery if the fan runs too much. I think the KTM switch is 100/105C. I am running a 90/95C switch meant for a 1984 BMW 318i car has my fan coming on around 206F, again measured coming off the head. The earlier activation of the fan creates more "reserve" before it gets stinky hot, and keeps the temp below 215 pretty much no matter how tortuous the trail, and I ride some rocky gnarly stuff here in CO in the thin air. If you are reasonably nimble, you can unscrew the KTM switch and screw in the car one with almost no coolant loss. The Napa part number is ATM 1435033, here is a link to the switch I am using. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/C.../Coolant-Fan-Switch/_/R-ATM1435033_0257596936 Also spliced in a manual fan switch but I honestly don't use it much since adding the car thermo switch. These bikes have 211 watts of stator output and can run the fan continuously, so draining the battery is not an issue. The only downside to all this cooling goodness is my right thigh can get roasted medium rare at times, particularly if I am sitting. This encourages me to stand up more as I ride, something I should be doing anyway The 'Berg wiring harness has pigtails for the KTM fan kit. It is all plug and play.
Updated my post #5015 above with labels. At least what I think the wiring is for. Just looking for someone to help and confirm. The previous owner told me all 'Bergs come with the map switch. Is this true and the handlebar mount is just for convenience? Or did he pull one over on me?
The yel/blk is engine kill just like the other one in the pic, the Berg has two. I have one connected to the CEV kill button and the other to a Sicass key switch. As for the Map switch, it is not factory installed, his dealer may have given it to him for free. The plug for it is there from the factory but the actual switch has to be added.
how about a color coded one? yes, the purple/black & brown/black wires are turn signals, those are the plugs going to the TS lights themselves coming out of your turn signal switch on the bars. your turn signal relay should have a purple/black & brown/black wire going to it from the light switch on the bars. the horn plug should be purple/yellow & grey according to the diagram. can't tell from the pic. edit: (i may be color blind, and/or your model year may be different colors....this is for '09) H2 - LF turn signal H8 - parking lamp H9 - headlight H7 - HI beam indicator light H4 - TS indicator light H3 - RF turn signal B8 - map switch (IIRC) P1 - dashboard K3 - TS flasher S2 - front brakelight switch S4 - turn signal switch (CEV switch half on bars) S5 - headlight/kill/horn switch (CEV switch half on bars) H10 - horn S6 - rear brakelight switch X200 - Tail/Brake light wire harness plug under the seat (white 4 PIN plug, only 3 wires) X400 - Turn signal wire harness plug under the seat (white 3 PIN plug, 3 wires) H6 - LR turn signal H11 - license plate light H12 - brake light H5 - RR turn signal
This is great. Thank you very much. Additional wiring question. Sicass racing told me the Husaberg comes with the Horn wiring. They said the wiring is tied back in the harness under the frame. I removed the tank but still don't see it. Next step is to remove the radiators so I can see what's in between. Is the horn wiring there? Or am I. On a witch hunt. Is it a set of spade connectors?
It is there, I honestly searched for 5 minutes and thought sicass was mistaken, but it is there, right hand side of the bike. Its tucked up and hidden really well. It's not very long though
Did you have to remove the radiators? My enduro engineering radiator support just completely in the way I can't see or reach anything.
