Plenty of threads around here on RV'ing and minimalist living. That's my emphasis right now, partly by necessity and partly because of my insistence on traveling and riding the way that I want to do it.

Do you know Ara Gureghian by any chance?

Thats where it all starts RMO....Maybe you played this on the broadcast that i missed. I hope I get to listen in next time..

Every step of the way we walk the line
Your days are numbered, so are mine
Time is pilin’ up, we struggle and we scrape
We’re all boxed in, nowhere to escape

City’s just a jungle; more games to play
Trapped in the heart of it, tryin' to get away
I was raised in the country, I been workin’ in the town
I been in trouble ever since I set my suitcase down

Got nothin' for you, I had nothin' before
Don’t even have anything for myself anymore
Sky full of fire, pain pourin’ down
Nothing you can sell me, I’ll see you around
    :D

+1 :deal. I missed commenting on this. I came close to buying the DVD here at the local Mix-up store, I bought a few Enrique Krauze historical vids instead. Have to go back for the Suitcase.
Now that is a lost luggage story!
By the way, Enrique Krauze's massive tome on the history of Mexico is now available in English electronically. Not to be missed, a long time in translation but it is now out.
Good call on the Suitcase, Trice.

Excellent tip - ordering that via IBooks on the IPad today

    From the Amazon.com book description:

    Mexico: Biography of Power

"The concentration of power in the caudillo (leader) is as much a formative element of Mexican culture and politics as the historical legacy of the Aztec emperors, Cortez, the Spanish Crown, the Mother Church and the mixing of the Spanish and Indian population into a mestizo culture. Krauze shows how history becomes biography during the century of caudillos from the insurgent priests in 1810 to Porfirio and the Revolution in 1910. The Revolutionary era, ending in 1940, was dominated by the lives of seven presidents -- Madero, Zapata, Villa, Carranza, Obregon, Calles and Cardenas. Since 1940, the dominant power of the presidency has continued through years of boom and bust and crisis. A major question for the modern state, with today's president Zedillo, is whether that power can be decentralized, to end the cycles of history as biographies of power."

It's all electronic for my anymore, after taking boxes of hard covers to the local library.

This title looks really good :freaky

I also picked up a great book on the work of Manuel Alvarez Bravo's b&w photography. Probably the best Latin American photographer of the 20th century. $235 pesos at Costco.
Now that is an open border, buying Mexican culture at a US based big box store.:clap. clap

One of the great privileges of travel is meeting and hosting other travelers. Advrider has been great for this in my life. IMO it is the host who benefits more than the guest and I appreciate travelers providing the opportunity to participate in some small way in their adventures. Last year I met Troutshack on his way south and this year he has his B-I-L Mark with him. Two great guys setting out on a nice little adventure to Mexico and beyond. Hopefully they will post up here from time to time so we can ride along with them.

Thanks for dropping in, guys, and say "hi" to Trice on your way south.

    Buena suerte,

    Schizz

If I could reach half way to that level my left nut will say, "Hasta luego mi patron, es el fin del camino".
