more details would be helpful...where are you flying into? where you want to fly out of at the end?

I have no doubt someone will sell/rent you pretty much any kind of bike you want...do you have any ideas what you'd prefer?

Wow - all that's pretty subjective, especially the good looking part and the Not too expensive part.

Do you have a budget? By August of this year there will probably be several good reliable bikes available from at least one of the folks I ride with, and I'm sure from more than one inmate here. A good deal will depend on your budget.

Heck, the '87 Ninja 600 that is in the first stages of refreshing will be ready well before then - and I'm sure will be well within your budget if you want to purchase one - or renting would be a possibility as well.

The more info we have the more we can help.

Looking forward to seeing you when you get to the States.

Frederic, look at it this way...if you were to request some very specific bike be available for rent/purchase in August of 2012, you can just about guarantee that the ADV community here in America can make it happen. Lets say, for example, that you wanted a 94 Honda Africa Twin

    http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_xrv_750_africa_twin_1994.php

chances are better than 50/50 that it can be made to happen.

so, what I'm saying is... unless you want to get 947,312 offers of bikes for sale/;rent filling up your PM inbox, you might wanna get semi specific on what you'd like to ride.

Heck, maybe there's some classic bike you've always wanted to get some seat time with...whatever floats your boat...

That's pretty funny Fred, you realize it was August of 2009 when we ran into you in Almaty? Two and half years ago. Time flies! It still makes me laugh thinking about the drama at the visa office!

Fred, where's the rest of the story? I stumbled upon your ride report on an unrelated Google search. Great story... But it ended quite abruptly! Everything okay?
