I bought the plug for my first-generation Tourmaster, and use it with a Gerbings dual controller (will work equally well with the Warm-n-Safe one). The plug was only $8 -- IMHO better than having more wire dangle.

Anyway, it works great! It was 28 degrees friday morning, and I was nice and snug in it.

I just had the controller cable pull out of the lining for the third time (i.e. third jacket.) Everything still works and it is probably quite easy to fix but an annoyance nonetheless.

Thanks. Is there a field fix to just get it to work until I get a controller replaced or fixed. I just emailed today to find out that replacements are 60 days out. I kind of want to be warm until then. King city is pretty cold this time of year.

go find some female spade connectors that'll slide over 2 of the pins at the same time (or buy the $10 plug)
make a short jumper with one female spade on each end
slide connectors over pins as shown
crimp down until snug
wrap it up in electrical tape so nothing comes loose
go get an in line lamp switch
install in your cord from bike power

turn on when cold
turn off when hot

when you replace the controller, turn on

thanks yeah, got that one, but what I mean is, cross this wire, pull apart the controller, solder this wire... something to keep me from frezzing my A off.....

That is precisely what he told you to do, except instead of soldering the wires he is suggesting to use spade connectors to jump them instead.

So, battery to controller, to jacket coax connector. Jump the 5pin connector as shown above, tape it up all closed, and i'm there right?

I've been pretty happy with my Synergy jacket for the past 3 years. Never bragged about how well it worked since I believe in karma. Today it caught up with me. I plugged it in (original controller) and turned it on. It started warming up right away but then I noticed when i went to step down the heat all of the LEDs were lit up. It stayed like that.

I was looking at XPLORZ post but there aren't any pics showing up. I may do the DRIF10 fix and jumper the connectors but I think I may add a toggle switch in there to turn it on or off as needed. Has anyone done this or the rheostat shown above?

And then just use any normal heat controller.

+1. That's what I did when my TM controller crapped out. TM did send me replacement but I wanted something I could relay on so I bought a Powerlet controller (same as Warn-n-Safe) and one of those adapters.

I've used the "LED Dimmer" for controlling heated grips.

right? and I can still use the out to the gloves? Going to do this tomorrow. I can pull apart and engine and put it back together, but this electricity stuff.....

and if I do that, are the gloves going to run off the jacket controller?

I got my original jacket replaced under warranty. It took a year of BS because they were coming out with the v.2.0 model and discontinued the original version.

New version jacket is nicer and controller a littler more substantial BUT it's got the same design flaw as the original that will eventually cause the controller to pull out/separate from the jacket and break.

When this breaks (and it's just a matter of time before it does) I will replace with a more dependable unit that costs more. I can't stand the aggravation and uncertainty of this equipment to save a few dollars.

I'm usually not all that lucky of of a person, matter of fact,,,,,,, Murphy and I go way back. If something bad can happen, it usually do.

But, I'm still perking along on my original vests {one for me and one for my wife} and have to say the only thing that's happened has been when I gave my vest to someone else during a trip and their bike's regulator was fried {didn't know it at the time} and it fried both my controllers. Other than that, nada problem and I've used the heck out of these vests for what, 3-4 years and tons of miles.

But hey,,, I've run 10-15 Shinko 705s on different bikes and in different terrains and haven't had a single failure so apparently I'm lucky with stuff other folks ain't so lucky with. Seems I really do get what I pay fer ehh!
