Worked on the Death racer over the weekend and have some updates... I started to dummy fit thins back up again in preparation for the custom exhaust that will be made and the clearance issues I will have. Everything went back in sweet but I know I will work up a hot sweat once I have a freshly painted frame and swing hahaha Started with the wheels.. Moved on to the engine... I fitted it my self, wasn't that bad but when it goes back in for the final time I will call a mate for help. I will then also have some one blame when shit hits the fan. Next up will be to fit the Wilbers shock I have ordered (3 week wait or so) and ship the bike off to the welder/mechanic. Get the custom exhaust made, ride height set, cowl, weld in the frame braces, rebuild the front suspension. Might throw around a few ideas with him also and see what else we can come up with. All in all, a productive day.
Thanks mate! Well, more for looks than anything. If it add strength it's a bonus but I can see the trusty 65 giving the frame a hard time. I think it looks killer!!
Trav, I purchased these a while ago an I honestly have forgotten the pricing. I also got a few other things also from a few different places at the same time but from memory, shipping didn't stand out at the time. I will try to look back of I have any information of the purchase.
Yo Elliot, yeah mate plenty of room, upland on running the bell mouth pipes and no filters but works out the same. Here is a pic I found on a google search. Thanks for the kind words mate!
Yeah, right. I had been following the build thread of Sparkymoto with an fab outcome. It's BMW as well. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=535890 He also gave me lots of advices for my CX650 cafe project. Just curious how you plan your final product looks like.
Ohh I have not seen that one. I will have a better read after work. Final product for my one will be very lean and black in colour!
Great. I have sketched my Cafe racer prior to chop the bike off, as below. However, I have changed the design day after day, depending on the actual fabrication as well as what kind of materials and parts I have. Or you can read the full thread. Don't know if it could give you some late extra idea. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=818551
Very impressive mate, wow! I will check it out now... I had my graphic designer do another photoshop for me. Something along these lines
Wow wow wow.... That's bloody sick!!! Do you think if you bring the headlight a bit lower is better?? Coz my headlight at the same level and it looks too high. My 2 cent.
Totally agree for the headlight. The picture was taken with the stock head light and I am considering 1 inch smaller the give the more minimal impression which should work well with the theme of the bike! I will experiment with a few bikini fairings but of not happy I will leave them out.
Thanks. It looks like a Harley VRod heahlight, doesn't it? I have painted the rear shock spring and front brake calipers in red to make them more attractive. How do you think, for your great R65? Noticed that you will bring the exhausts up to the seat - as per the PS sketch. Dang, that will be hot ass...
Just my 2ยข .. but I think when it comes to exhaust & mono's .. the 2 into 1 seems to give it more " balance " , and just me .. I just wouldn't want to run the that much heat right under the tank. Apart from that ... Looking Good
Hope the below photos could give you some more confidence of making such high exhausts (I don't know how its ride the bike in the photos, just refer to its making)
