I reckon tip top Idea its a a bit over an hour north of gunnedah so its suits sydney siders and brisbanians as well as ACT and the like. - I start on 6 weeks holidays today but I am planning to head to comerons corner and across to birdsville at some stage during that time! - any body welcome to join !

The place is the Upper Horton Sports Club - its right on the horton river and we could camp either on the river or at the sports grounds - there are toilet facilites for the men and ladies as well as reasonably priced grog over the bar and takeaway, I can certainly organise barbeques and that sort of thing and rides through the district! - my pick for the DR would be the back road to kaputar and then back through to horton on a series of all pretty much all dirt roads for a distance of about 350 kms.

Let me know when you are ready

    OK

    That sounds pretty good .

    Thinking out loud.

Shady camping type spot with swimming would mean November through to March would be good.

Looks like a reasonable day ride from Canberra too - thats good.

To make things easier we could call on a few other DR' folk to assist with organising - spread the load.

If advertised and with good weather I reckon we could get 50 - 60 along. We could charge a small fee and give a little earnings to a local charity or FDS?

The date should not clash with other rallies or events eg bike races etc to keep the numbers up.

Thought I would join up on this thread, as of 1 hour ago I am the owner of a new DR650:freaky Have ordered a Safari 30L tank for her but would be interested in opinions from tall riders on the right bars to get. I am 6'3", and would like the good oil on a not so loud, but good sounding pipe to get her.
    Let the mods begin.
    Regards Bob

Dont know about the bars. As far as the exhaust is concerned I can recommend a Staintune. Sounds beeeeautiful. :1drink :D

A good exhaust is the one you have on it now. Nice and quiet, quite efficent, and does not piss people off so we have more places to ride.

    But it your choise.

Nice bike, it looks like my a few months ago!!

    Cheers

I have pro taper bars in a Doug Henry bend I think. Its half rubbed off. These need risers to fit the fat bars so you get the best of both worlds.

Mine used to look like yours too:D

Lofty the highest normal bend bar on the market is made by Renthal and its called Button bend, comes in blue as well. If you need anything higher you could fit some sort of risers to lift em up. The only other option I can think of is atv bend bars, its a bit out there but they sit a lot higher.

By the way Lofty the full staintune system is sweet as if left with the baffle in. Its louder than stock but not annoying and theres not much difference in performance with the baffle out.

I have Renthal 'Jimmy Button' bars (copied from Davo). They are standard 7/8 so you don't need the bigger clamps. $70 from MCAS

    Quite efficent?

    Stock 7.5kg vs SuperTrapp 2.5kg
Stock 30% slower 70-100kph 4th gear than SuperTrapp.

It's quite easy to get an aftermarket pipe that's not loud.

While I agree that lighter is good and it probably feels faster, 30% seems a stretch - you have quarter mile times perhaps ?

    70-100kph 4th gear roll-ons.
    3 seconds for the supertrapp.
4 seconds for the stock pipe.
    (jetted to suit the pipes).

3.5 seconds for the drilled stock pipe.

I've left the drilled stocker on to keep the noise levels down on overrun vs the SuperTrapps' gunshots.

yeah swimming spot might be a bit hard to come by just depends on what happens with the drought!! river has dried up at the club itself however there are a few good holes close by that I can get accsess to !!

if the drought continues we can have a davorallyfan dry tshirt competion instead of wet tshirt competion (how does that sound)

you let me know what you need and ill attempt it!

    Hi Nordie

You have been following and posting on the thread on Thumpertalk for the dyno run with the FCR-MX and different exhausts. I am sure that you have checked out the dyno runs from Procycle.

You know you are not being honest with youself.

There is a small gain to be had for a shit load of noise.

    Cheers
